Okay, so I’ve been trying to get a good, clean rip of Yu Darvish’s pitching highlights from when he played in Japan. It’s surprisingly hard to find good quality stuff, you know? Most of it is either super grainy, or has annoying commentary, or it’s just short clips.

I started by just hitting up the usual spots – you know, the big video sites. Typed in “Yu Darvish Japan” and…well, a lot of junk came up. Lots of irrelevant videos, game recaps instead of pure pitching, and just generally low-quality stuff.
So, I refined my search. I added terms like “highlights,” “complete game,” and the names of specific teams he played for. That helped a little, but still mostly short, unsatisfying clips.
- First try: “Yu Darvish Japan” – Total mess.
- Second try: “Yu Darvish Nippon Ham Fighters highlights” – Slightly better, but still not great.
- Third try: “Yu Darvish complete game Pacific League” – This was a turning point!
The “complete game” search was key. I started finding longer videos, like full innings or even entire games. The problem then became finding them in decent quality. I spent a good few hours just clicking through videos, skipping around, checking the resolution, and generally feeling frustrated.
I finally stumbled across a few videos that were pretty good. They weren’t perfect – some had watermarks, some had a little bit of grain – but they were watchable, full-game footage. I downloaded a couple of those using one of those online video downloader tools. Just pasted the link in, hit download, and waited.
The Result
It took a while, but I ended up with a few decent videos of Darvish pitching in Japan. It’s not a perfect collection, but it’s way better than what I started with. I can actually sit down and watch a full game now, and really appreciate his skills from back then. I think the key was being persistent and trying different search terms. And accepting that perfect quality is probably not gonna happen.

I may be trying to look at some other places, but for now, I am good with what I got.
