Alright, let’s talk about this Michigan State football team, ya know, who’s gonna be startin’ and all that. Folks are gettin’ all excited, talkin’ ’bout this new coach, Jonathan Smith, and what he’s gonna do. Sounds like he’s been workin’ them boys hard, gettin’ ’em ready for the season.
First off, the offense. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I hear tell this Aidan Chiles fella, he’s gonna be the quarterback. Young fella, lots of folks pinin’ their hopes on him. Hope he can throw the ball straight, unlike my grandson throwin’ rocks at them pesky squirrels. He’s gotta be good, real good, if we wanna win some games.
Then there’s them fellas catchin’ the ball, the wide receivers. Nick Marsh, Jaron Glover, Montorie Foster Jr. – that’s what the newspaper fellas wrote, names sound fancy, hope they play fancy too. They gotta be fast, gotta be able to catch that ball even when some big ol’ fella is breathin’ down their neck. Reminds me of my chickens, always gotta be quick to snatch up them worms before the rooster gets ’em.
And let’s not forget them big boys up front, the offensive line. Gotta protect that quarterback, gotta make holes for the fellas runnin’ the ball. Ramil… somethin’ or other, that’s what I heard on the radio. Big fellas, gotta be strong, gotta be tough. Like them ol’ bulls back on the farm, always pushin’ and shovin’.

- Running Backs: (Didn’t hear much ’bout them yet, hope they’re good runners)

Now, onto the defense. That’s where the real scrappin’ happens, ya know? Stoppin’ them other fellas from scorin’. Jaden Mangham, that’s a name I keep hearin’. Sounds like he’s supposed to be a good one, gotta tackle hard, gotta be mean. Like that old hound dog we had, never let a stranger near the henhouse.
They gotta be a whole bunch of ’em on defense, flyin’ around, hittin’ hard. Linebackers, cornerbacks, all them fellas. Gotta be tough, gotta be smart, gotta know where that ball’s goin’. It’s like watchin’ a bunch of bees swarm around a hive, always movin’, always buzzin’. They gotta stop them other fellas from runnin’ the ball, gotta stop ’em from throwin’ the ball. Gotta make sure they don’t score, simple as that.
So, that’s what I know so far ’bout this Michigan State football team. Lots of new faces, lots of hope. Gotta wait and see how they play, gotta see if they’re tough enough, gotta see if they can win some games. It all starts soon, that’s what the young’uns are sayin’. Hope they do us proud, hope they play their hearts out. It’s gonna be an excitin’ season, I reckon, just gotta wait and see what happens. They better be good, ‘cause folks around here take their football real serious. More serious than my husband takes his supper, and that’s sayin’ somethin’.
More on the starting lineup speculation. Folks keep guessin’ who’s gonna start, ya know? It’s like tryin’ to figure out how many eggs a hen’s gonna lay. You just never know for sure till it happens. They talk about “depth charts” and all that fancy stuff. Sounds complicated to me. All I care about is if they can win, if they can play hard, and if they can make us proud. It don’t matter who starts, as long as they play good, ya know?
They keep sayin’ this Jonathan Smith guy, the new coach, he’s gonna make a difference. Well, I hope so. We’ve had some rough years lately, haven’t we? We need a good team, something to cheer for. Something to make us forget about the price of eggs and them darn potholes in the road. This football team, they better give us somethin’ to smile about.
