Alright, alright, let’s talk about this WWE Royal Rumble thing. You know, that big wrestling fight they have every year? Folks get all excited, like it’s the end of the world or somethin’. Always hearin’ whispers and shouts about who’s gonna show up, who’s gonna win. It’s a whole lotta fuss, but I guess it’s fun for some people.
So, what’s the big deal this year? Well, they say there’s gonna be some surprises. They always say that, don’t they? But this time, maybe, just maybe, it’s true. I heard some folks talkin’ down at the market, sayin’ maybe The Rock might come back. Yeah, that big fella, the one with the eyebrow. He’s a movie star now, you know. But he used to wrestle, way back when. If he comes back, that’d be somethin’, I guess. People would go wild.
And then there’s all this talk about “news” and “rumors”. Honestly, I don’t know what half of it means. They use all these fancy words, but it all boils down to the same thing: who’s gonna fight, and who’s gonna win. That’s all anyone cares about, ain’t it? I heard someone shoutin’ somethin’ about “PW Insider”. Sounds like a bunch of gossips to me. But I guess that’s what people like these days.
- They got these “spoilers” too. I don’t get that neither. Why would you wanna know what’s gonna happen before it happens? Takes all the fun out of it, if you ask me. But folks are always lookin’ for a shortcut, I guess.
- And then there’s the “results.” Well, duh. After the fight’s over, of course you know the results. What’s the point of talkin’ about it then? People are strange, I tell ya. Real strange.
This year, they had this big fight with a bunch of fellas. CM Punk, that fella with all the tattoos, he was there. And Cody Rhodes, the one with the famous daddy. And that big fella from Europe, Gunther, I think they called him. Big fella, real strong. They all fought and fought, and someone won, I guess. I didn’t watch it myself, but I heard people talkin’.
They even had some kinda prayer break in one of them fights. Said it was outta respect for the folks over there where they were fightin’. Seems kinda odd to me, stoppin’ a fight to pray, but I guess everyone’s gotta do what they gotta do. It’s respectful though, I’ll give em that.
Honestly, I don’t understand half of what goes on in this wrestlin’ world. It’s all just a bunch of noise and flashin’ lights to me. But folks seem to like it. They cheer and they boo, and they get all worked up. It’s like a big ol’ soap opera, but with more muscles and less talkin’. They say it is like a show but my neighbor insists it’s real fighting, goes on and on about it every week. I bet it’s both, a little show and a little real fighting. Like cats, they show off and then they fight for real!
So, if you’re into that kind of thing, I guess you’ll be watchin’ this Royal Rumble stuff. Me? I’ll probably just stick to my stories and my garden. But I ain’t gonna judge. Everyone needs somethin’ to get excited about, I suppose. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when your favorite wrestler loses, alright? I got enough problems of my own.
And all this talk about who will “main event” at some place called WrestleMania XL… Sounds like a big to-do. They sure do like their fancy names, don’t they? Makes it sound more important than it is, I reckon. But hey, that’s their business. I’ll just stick to my knitting and leave the wrestlin’ to them.
One more thing, they keep saying things are “iconic”. Everything is “iconic”. Their moves, the fights, the whole dang event. I guess that means it’s good, huh? Or maybe it just means they want you to think it’s good. You youngsters with your fancy words! Makes an old lady’s head spin.
