Alright, so I’ve been digging into this whole “worst NBA player ever” thing, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I started off just kinda curious, you know? Like, who’s really the bottom of the barrel in the NBA?
So, I hit up the internet, just started searching around. I typed in “worst NBA player” into the search bar and started scrolling. There are a bunch of names that pop up. And I was looking at them, thinking there has to be more to it than these random people I have never heard of.
First, I found this dude, Mouhamed Gueye. They say he’s the lowest-paid player this season. The guy was the 39th pick in the 2023 draft, originally with the Charlotte Hornets. Then I saw he got traded to the Celtics. I watched some videos of him, he does not look that bad.
Then, I stumbled upon this other guy, Michael Olowokandi. This was a trip down memory lane! Drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1998, I remember hearing about him way back when I played basketball in high school. He was such a popular guy back then. People say he’s one of the worst, but I’m not so sure. I think he was not good for the first pick, but not the worst ever.
So, I kept at it, diving deeper into forums and discussions. There are so many players people consider bad. It was not a good research. I thought, how can I find out who’s really the worst? I started to look at it from a different view. What if we looked at it statistically?
I spent hours, I mean hours, going through game stats. I’m talking points, rebounds, assists, turnovers… the whole shebang. I started comparing them all, trying to make sense of it. Then I was trying to figure out who really stood out as, well, not standing out at all. It’s kinda tricky, ’cause everyone has bad games, right?
After all that digging, I think the first pick is the key. Because everyone expects you to do so well, but if you don’t, you look extra bad. I haven’t come to a final conclusion yet. I will keep looking into it. But I wanted to share my findings with you.
This whole thing has been a real eye-opener. It’s not just about the numbers, though. There’s a whole story behind each player. You start to see the pressure they’re under, the expectations. It’s tough, man. But it also makes it super interesting to look into.
I’ll keep you guys posted on what else I find. This is just the beginning, I think. There’s a lot more to uncover about this whole “worst NBA player” debate. It is not that easy to find out.
