Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the world of NFL quarterbacks lately, specifically those who came out of Alabama. I mean, the Crimson Tide has always been a powerhouse, but the number of QBs they’ve sent to the pros is pretty wild, especially under Nick Saban’s watch.
I started by looking back at some of the legends. You can’t talk about Alabama QBs without mentioning Joe Namath. The guy’s a true icon. He played way back in the 60s, but his legacy still lives on. I spent a good chunk of time just reading stories about him and watching old highlights. He was something else.
Then I moved on to more recent players. I got really into researching A.J. McCarron. This guy had an amazing college career. I dug into his stats – he completed like two-thirds of his passes for over 9,000 yards! And the touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio? Crazy good. I watched a bunch of his college games, and it’s easy to see why he was so successful.
After that, I shifted my focus to the current crop of Alabama QBs in the NFL. There are four of them right now, which is pretty impressive: Jalen Hurts with the Eagles, Tua Tagovailoa with the Dolphins, Bryce Young with the Panthers, and Mac Jones with the Jaguars. I spent hours tracking their progress, watching their games, and comparing their stats.
It was especially interesting to follow Tua’s journey. I remember when he left for the NFL draft in 2020, there was so much hype around him. I tracked his ups and downs, read all the articles about him, and watched his interviews. Following his career has been a real rollercoaster.
Breaking Down Each QB’s Performance
-
Jalen Hurts: What a story this guy has. I started by watching his college highlights, then followed his journey to the Eagles. Tracking his development has been fascinating.
-
Tua Tagovailoa: As I mentioned, I’ve been following Tua since his college days. I even made a spreadsheet to track his stats each season. It’s been a wild ride for sure.
-
Bryce Young: The new kid on the block. I’ve been watching all his games, and reading every scouting report I can find. It’s too early to tell how he’ll do long-term, but it’s exciting to watch him start his career.
-
Mac Jones: I spent a good amount of time comparing him to the other Bama QBs. It’s interesting to see how different their styles are, and how they’ve adapted to the NFL.
This whole deep dive took me weeks, but it was worth it. It’s just amazing to see how one college program can produce so many talented quarterbacks. It really makes you appreciate the coaching staff and the system they have in place at Alabama. And I will keep on digging and enjoying!
