Well, let me tell you, I was just minding my own business, watching the White Sox game the other day. It had been raining, you know, one of those days where you’re just glad to be inside.
So, the game was delayed for like, 44 minutes. When play resumed, I started to notice something was off. The first base coach was nowhere to be seen! I thought to myself, “Where’d he go? Did he get lost on his way back from the bathroom?”
First Base Coach Missing
I grabbed my phone and started looking on the internet, trying to figure out what was going on. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one who was confused. People online were saying that there’s actually a rule that you gotta have a first-base coach. Who knew, right? I mean, I’ve been watching baseball for years and I never even thought about it.
So, I dug a little deeper. The team, it’s been having a rough time lately. Their old manager, Pedro Grifol, got the boot, and now they’ve got this new guy, Will Venable, in charge. I read that the team owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, might even be thinking about selling the team. They got a new manager called Will Venable. This guy apparently has an “underdog mentality”, whatever that means. Sounds like he might need it, though, ’cause the White Sox haven’t been doing so hot.
Here’s what I found out:

All I know is, it was one of the weirdest things I’ve seen in a while. It just goes to show, you never know what’s gonna happen in a baseball game. I kept watching, though, and eventually, someone showed up to coach first base. It caused a bit of a delay, but the game went on. It wasn’t the first-base coach, but hey, at least someone was there, right? I finished watching the game but remained curious about the whole situation.
