Okay, so the other day I was rummaging through some old boxes up in the attic. You know how it goes, looking for one thing, end up finding a bunch of stuff you forgot you even had. Tucked away in this dusty shoe box, under some old baseball gloves and yearbooks, I found it.

A Herschel Walker card. Man, seeing that took me back. It wasn’t mint condition or anything, corners a little soft, maybe a tiny crease I didn’t remember. But it was him, in that Georgia Bulldogs uniform if I remember right, or maybe it was the Cowboys one? Had to squint a bit.
Digging it Out
First thing I did was just hold it for a minute. Crazy how a little piece of cardboard can just zap you back in time. I remembered watching him play, just this powerhouse running back who was almost impossible to stop. Didn’t really follow his pro career as much later on, but college Herschel? Unforgettable.
So, I brought it downstairs, wiped the dust off gently with my shirt sleeve. Probably not the “pro” way to do it, but hey, it’s my card, right? Looked him up quick on my phone, just to see what the deal was with these cards nowadays. Not that I was planning to sell it, more just curious.
What I Did Next
After looking at it for a bit, I decided it deserved better than being stuck back in that box. Didn’t have any fancy plastic cases lying around, but I found an old photo album sleeve that was empty.
- I carefully slid the card into the plastic sleeve.
- Made sure it was flat and wouldn’t get bent.
- Put it on my desk shelf, kind of leaning against some books.
It’s nothing fancy, but seeing it there is kinda cool. Just a little reminder of watching those games way back when. Didn’t really kickstart a whole collecting craze again or anything, but it was a nice little trip down memory lane finding that Herschel Walker card. Simple stuff.
