Okay, here’s my blog post about the Nuggets mascot salary, written in a conversational and personal style:
So, I was reading some stuff online the other day, just scrolling through, you know how it is. And I stumbled upon this article talking about how much money mascots make in the NBA. I was like, “What? People actually get paid to dress up in those crazy costumes?” Turns out, yeah, they do, and some of them make some serious bank!
Now, I’m not really into sports, but this got me curious. I started digging around to find out more. The first thing I found was that the average mascot makes around 60 grand a year. That’s not bad for a living, right? But then, I saw the real shocker.
It’s this guy, Rocky, the mascot for the Denver Nuggets. This dude is making $625,000 a year! I almost choked on my coffee when I saw that number. Six hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars! To dress up like a mountain lion and run around at basketball games! I couldn’t believe it.
I kept digging. I found out that Rocky has been doing this since 1993, so he’s definitely a veteran in the mascot game. I guess that explains part of the huge salary. Experience pays, even when you’re a mascot.
Then I found some other mascot salaries just for comparison. Like, the Charlotte Hornets mascot, Hugo, he’s making 100 grand a year. And apparently, his costume was designed by the daughter of Jim Henson. You know, the Muppets guy! Pretty cool, right? But still, nowhere near Rocky’s salary.
So, I spent the whole afternoon going down this rabbit hole, looking up all kinds of mascot stuff. I learned a lot. Who knew there was so much to learn about the world of professional mascots?
This whole thing got me thinking, maybe I should have become a mascot. It seems like a pretty sweet gig if you can get it.
Anyway, that’s my random research adventure for the day. It just goes to show that you never know what you’ll learn when you start exploring random stuff on the internet. I hope you found this little story as interesting as I did! You know what I mean? The world is full of surprises.
