So, I finally decided to get myself one of those Rickie Fowler hats. Been seeing him rock those flat brims for ages, especially the bright orange ones. Honestly, my golf game’s been pretty average lately, maybe worse than average if I’m being real with myself. Figured I couldn’t afford a whole new set of clubs, and lessons felt like too much commitment right now with everything else going on.

Thought maybe, just maybe, a new hat could add a little something. You know, look the part, feel the part, even if I’m still shanking it into the woods. Seemed like a small thing I could actually do.
Finding the Right One
First, I just started looking around online. Typed it into the search bar, saw a bunch of options pop up. Mostly Puma stuff, obviously, since that’s his sponsor. There were the classic flat brims, some curved ones, different colors.
- Checked the official Puma golf site.
- Looked at a few big online golf retailers.
- Even browsed some general sports stores online.
The main thing was finding the exact style I had in mind. I specifically wanted that signature flat brim look. For a minute, I hesitated. Felt like maybe I was too old for that style, or maybe it wouldn’t look right. Saw a few guys at my local club wearing similar hats, some looked good, some… well, didn’t. But heck, I wasn’t trying to win any fashion awards, just wanted the hat.
Making the Purchase
Decided to go for the orange one. It felt like the most iconic Fowler choice. Found it on the Puma site, seemed straightforward enough. Added it to my cart. Went through the checkout process, punched in my address and card details. Pretty standard stuff. Didn’t have any hiccups there, thankfully. Sometimes ordering online can be a pain, sites crashing or payment issues, but this time it was smooth.
Then came the waiting part. Got the confirmation email, said it would ship in a few days. You know how it is, once you order something you kind of want it right away. Checked the tracking probably more times than I should admit.

Arrival and First Impressions
Package arrived about four days later. Just a standard shipping bag. Pulled the hat out. It was definitely bright orange! No mistaking that. Looked just like the pictures online. The quality felt decent, what you’d expect from a major brand like Puma. Nice stitching, the logo was clean.
Tried it on. Looked in the mirror. Yeah, it’s a flat brim alright. Took a second to get used to seeing myself in it. Felt a bit different, but not bad. Adjusted it a bit. It fit well, comfortable enough.
Wearing It Out
First time I wore it was just out to the driving range. Felt a little self-conscious initially, I guess. Like people might think, “Who does this guy think he is, Rickie Fowler?” But honestly, nobody really cares that much. Everyone’s too busy worrying about their own swing.
Did the hat magically improve my game? Of course not. Still hit some good ones, still hit some terrible ones. But, I don’t know, it felt kind of fun. Added a bit of color. Maybe took my mind off the bad shots for a second. It’s just a hat, end of the day. But sometimes these little changes, these small things you do for yourself, they just make the routine feel a little less routine. It’s like getting a new tool for a hobby, doesn’t instantly make you an expert, but it renews your interest a bit. So yeah, glad I got it. It’s a keeper.
