Alright, folks, let me tell you about my latest adventure – hitting up the gym in Big Bear. I’ve been meaning to get back in shape, and what better place to do it than surrounded by all that beautiful nature, right?
So, I started doing a little digging online, checking out what gyms were around. There’s a bunch, like Big Bear Total Fitness, Bodytek Fitness, and The Fitness Source Big Bear, to name a few. I read some reviews, you know, the usual – what people liked, what they didn’t. Big Bear Total Fitness seemed pretty popular, with a decent amount of reviews, so I figured I’d start there.
- First thing I did was scope out their website. They had all the basic info – hours, classes, equipment, the whole nine yards.
- Next, I gave them a call. Just wanted to get a feel for the place and ask about their membership options. The guy on the phone was cool, answered all my questions without being pushy.
- So, I decided to swing by in person. It’s on Valley Blvd, pretty easy to find. Walked in, and it was buzzing with people working out. Good energy, you know?
I took a quick tour. They’ve got your typical setup – a strength training area with all the weights and machines, a cardio room with treadmills and ellipticals. Looked like they had a good selection of equipment, and it all seemed pretty well-maintained.
I’m not gonna lie, I was a little intimidated at first. It had been a while since I’d been in a gym. But everyone was minding their own business, doing their thing. No one was judging or anything. There are so many machines that I had never seen before.
Starting the workout
I decided to start slow, hop on a treadmill, and just get my heart rate up. Felt good to be moving again! After that, I hit a few of the weight machines, trying to remember what I used to do back in the day. It was a bit of a struggle, but I pushed through.
I even saw a few folks doing classes, like Pilates and CrossFit. Maybe I’ll try one of those next time. There was also this Stellar Athletics place that looked interesting, but I didn’t get a chance to check it out.
After my workout, I felt great! Tired, but in a good way. It’s definitely a process, getting back in shape, but I’m committed to it. I ended up getting a day pass for now, but I’m thinking about becoming a member.
I heard an interesting story about how Big Bear got its name. Apparently, back in the 1800s, some guy named Benjamin Davis Wilson was hunting for some bad guys who had been messing with his ranch. He found the place crawling with grizzly bears, and that is how it got the name. Cool, huh?
Also, did you know that Gold’s Gym Venice is like, the most famous gym in the world? It’s been around for 50 years! They even did a whole “Day in the Life” video about it. Anyway, that’s my Big Bear gym story for now. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress. Wish me luck!
