So, I got this idea stuck in my head the other day about a ‘world cup ring’. You know, like those championship rings they give out in American sports, but for the World Cup. Seemed like a fun little project to mess around with.

Getting Started
First thing, I just grabbed a notepad and a pencil. Started sketching out some rough shapes. Nothing fancy, mind you, just trying to get the basic form down. I thought about what screams ‘World Cup’. Obviously, the trophy itself is key. So, I tried integrating that silhouette.
- Sketched a simple band.
- Tried putting a small trophy shape on top.
- Played with maybe adding the year or some stars around it.
Honestly, my drawing skills aren’t great, but it helped to visualize things a bit before jumping onto the computer.
Trying a Digital Design
Next, I fired up some simple 3D modeling software I had. Nothing professional, just one of those free tools you can find online. I’m no expert with this stuff, so it was a lot of trial and error.
Getting the basic ring shape was easy enough. Just a cylinder and cut out the middle. But making the trophy part look decent? That took a while. I kept fiddling with the shapes, trying to make it recognizable but still work on a small scale like a ring. It’s tougher than it looks.
I tried adding some text on the sides, like ‘World Champions’ or the year. Getting text to curve nicely on a ring surface was surprisingly annoying. Spent maybe an hour just tweaking that alone.

Tweaks and Finish
After getting a basic shape I kind of liked, I let it sit for a day. Came back to it with fresh eyes. It looked okay, but a bit plain.
I decided to add some small engraved patterns on the band, just simple lines, to give it a bit more texture. Also thickened the band slightly because the first version looked a bit flimsy, like it would snap.
Rendered out a simple image of it. Nothing photorealistic, just a clean look at the design concept.
Final Thoughts
So, what’s the end result? Basically just a 3D file sitting on my hard drive and a couple of rendered pictures. It’s not an actual, physical ring. I don’t have a 3D printer, and getting something like this properly cast in metal would cost a fortune, I bet.
But it was a fun little exercise. Passed the time, you know? Just taking an idea from my head, sketching it out, and making a simple digital version. Satisfying in its own way, even if it’s just a concept. Makes you appreciate the work that goes into real jewelry design, that’s for sure.
