Alright, so I was trying to track down the Fresno State football depth chart the other day. Just wanted to see who was lining up where, you know, get a feel for the team structure before the next game.

First thing I did, naturally, was hop on my computer and start searching. Typed in the usual stuff: “Fresno State football depth chart”, maybe tried “Bulldogs football starters” too. Got a mix of results back, like you always do. Some sports news sites, forum mentions, older stuff mostly.
I figured the official Fresno State Athletics site would be the place. So I went there. Clicked into the football section. Found the roster page easy enough, but that just lists everyone alphabetically or by number. Not really the depth chart showing who’s first string, second string at each spot.
Spent a bit of time clicking around there. Looked under ‘News’, checked the schedule page to see if maybe they linked it per game. Didn’t see it right away. It wasn’t just sitting there on the main football page, which would’ve been nice.
Then I remembered something. Teams often bury the depth chart inside their weekly game notes. These are usually PDF documents they release before each game, full of stats and info for the media. So, I started looking specifically for that on the official site.
Found the ‘Game Notes’ section, or maybe it was linked from a press release about the upcoming game, can’t quite recall exactly where I clicked. But I found the PDF file for the week. Had to download it.

Opened up the PDF, and yeah, had to scroll through a few pages. Lots of stats, team comparisons, player bios, that kind of thing. But then, usually a few pages in, there it was. The depth chart. Offense listed out, Defense, Special Teams. Showed the starters, the backups, sometimes even the third string guys for each position.
So, yeah. Wasn’t super obvious right on the front page, but digging into those weekly game notes did the trick. Seems like the most reliable place to find the official version, usually comes out mid-week before the game. That was my process for finding it this time around.
