Okay, so the other day, I found myself going down a bit of a rabbit hole, just looking into people I’d heard mentioned but didn’t really know much about. The name Erica May Scherzer popped into my head. I think I saw something about Max Scherzer, the pitcher, you know? And it got me thinking about his wife. I figured, let me spend a little time actually finding out who she is, beyond just the name.

So, I started digging around. First thing, obviously, is her connection to Max. Saw they met way back, like college sweethearts at the University of Missouri. That’s kinda cool, sticking together through all the baseball craziness. It’s not always easy, I bet.
Finding Out More
Then I started seeing more about her own stuff. It wasn’t just about being a baseball wife. I saw a lot about her passion, especially for animals. That really caught my attention because I’m a bit of an animal person myself. It seemed pretty genuine.
Here’s kinda what I pieced together:
- She’s heavily involved in animal rescue and advocacy. Lots of work with shelters and promoting adoption, especially for dogs and cats.
- There was mention of specific work with the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington D.C. when Max played for the Nationals. Seems like she put real effort in.
- I also read something interesting about heterochromia – you know, having two different colored eyes. Both she and Max have it, which is pretty wild. Apparently, she uses this unique trait sometimes to raise awareness or connect with causes.
- Saw she’s involved in other community work too, not just animals. Seems like she uses her platform, which is good to see.
It was interesting just putting these pieces together. You hear a name, maybe see a picture at a game, but you don’t really think about the actual person behind it. She seems pretty dedicated to the things she cares about, especially the animal welfare side of things. It felt like I got a much better picture than just ‘Max Scherzer’s wife’. She’s got her own passions, doing her own thing, which I respect. Just my little dive for the day, thought I’d share what I found.
