Okay, here’s my take on sharing my “scottie scheffler yellow ribbon” practice, blog-style!

My Scottie Scheffler Yellow Ribbon Journey
Alright folks, buckle up because I’m about to spill the beans on my attempt to recreate Scottie Scheffler’s iconic yellow ribbon moment. I saw him sporting it and thought, “Hey, that’s a cool and simple way to show support!” So, I jumped right into it.
First things first, I googled “yellow ribbon meaning” just to make sure I wasn’t about to accidentally support something weird. Turns out, it’s generally about supporting troops, which is awesome. Cool, cleared that hurdle.
Next, I had to actually get a yellow ribbon. I figured my local craft store would be the best bet, so I hopped in the car and drove down there. Turns out, they had a whole freaking wall of ribbons! I felt like a kid in a candy store. I grabbed a spool of yellow ribbon that looked about the right size – not too wide, not too skinny.
Now came the tricky part: actually tying the darn thing. I initially wanted to tie it on my golf bag, just like Scottie. I pulled out my bag, found a good spot, and started fiddling with the ribbon. I tried a basic bow, but it looked kinda sad and droopy.
I needed inspiration, so I went back to Google and searched “how to tie a perfect bow.” YouTube tutorials to the rescue! I watched a couple of videos, paused them a million times, and slowly but surely started to get the hang of it. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely an improvement.

But then I thought, “Hmm, golf bag is cool, but what about my golf shoes?” So, I grabbed my shoes and started experimenting. Turns out, tying a ribbon onto shoelaces is a whole different ball game! I had to adjust the size of the ribbon and figure out a way to keep it from flopping around.
I ultimately decided to tie a small, simple bow on the laces of my golf shoes. It’s subtle, but it’s there. Every time I look down, I’m reminded of the support the yellow ribbon represents.
The process was far from smooth. I had to redo the bows multiple times, fight with the ribbon, and even stabbed myself with a pin (ouch!). But hey, that’s crafting for ya!
Here’s what I learned:
- Patience is key. Don’t expect to tie a perfect bow on your first try.
- YouTube is your friend. Seriously, those tutorials are lifesavers.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try different placements and tying techniques until you find something that works for you.
And the final result? Well, it might not be as perfect as Scottie’s, but it’s mine, and I’m proud of it! It adds a little bit of flair, and it’s a cool way to show support. Now I just need to work on my golf swing so I can play as good as I look. Just kidding… mostly.
