Alright, so today I’m gonna yap about golf majors. I’ve been diving into this stuff lately, trying to up my golf game knowledge, ya know? It all started ’cause I was watching the Masters and thought, “Wait, what are the majors, exactly?” So I went down the rabbit hole.

First things first, I googled “what are the majors in golf”. Super original, I know. But hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
The search results popped up, and I saw the four biggies listed out:
- The Masters Tournament
- PGA Championship
- U.S. Open
- The Open Championship (British Open)
Okay, cool, I knew about the Masters and the British Open, but the other two? Not so much.
So then, I started digging deeper into each one individually. I figured, gotta understand what makes them so special. I started with the Masters.

I watched some YouTube videos about the history of the Masters. Learned about Augusta National, the course it’s always played on. That green jacket tradition? Pretty sweet. Saw some old footage of legendary shots. I mean, you gotta respect the history, right?
Next up was the PGA Championship. Read a bunch of articles about its history and past winners. Turns out, it’s known for having the strongest field because it includes a bunch of club pros. That’s a cool detail I never realized.
Then it was time to tackle the U.S. Open. This one’s known for being brutal, right? Super tough courses, thick rough… I watched a documentary about the challenges of the U.S. Open. Made me appreciate just how mentally tough these golfers have to be. I mean, to see some players just get frustrated and melt down, its intense.
Finally, The Open Championship. Checked out some highlights of past British Opens. The courses look insane! Wind, rain… it seems like a completely different game of golf than what I’m used to seeing here in the states. It’s pure golf, raw and just a battle against the elements.
After all that research, I created a little table in my notes app to summarize everything:

So, yeah, that’s basically how I learned about the golf majors. Went from clueless to slightly less clueless in a matter of hours. Next step? Probably actually try to play a round of golf. Maybe I’ll even try to emulate some of those major-winning shots… I doubt it though.
