Okay, so today I decided to dive into something I’ve been curious about for a while: sports predictions. Specifically, the UTEP vs. Florida International game. I’m no expert, far from it, but I wanted to see if I could figure this out using, you know, the internet.

First, I googled “UTEP vs Florida International football.” Just a basic, broad search to get a feel for things. This gave me a bunch of news articles, previous game results, and some betting sites. I quickly realized I needed more specific information.
Next, I started looking at each team’s recent performance. I checked out their win/loss records for the past few games. I figured, how they’ve been playing lately is probably a decent indicator of how they might play in this game. I jotted down some notes like “UTEP won last 2” and “FIU lost 3 of last 4”. Pretty rough, I know.
I tried to find some direct comparisons. Like, had these teams played each other recently? If so, who won, and by how much? That seemed like it would be super useful, and I’m not that knowledgable about sports. I looked at the previous scores between the teams, I wrote down that they have an advantage.
Digging Deeper (Kind Of)
- Stats!:Then tried to find some stats. Honestly, I got a little lost here. There are SO many numbers – passing yards, rushing yards, turnovers… It was a bit overwhelming.I did try and look for it.
- Injuries: I also searched for any news about player injuries. I figured a star player being out could significantly impact the game, right?
Finally, after looking at all this stuff, I had to… well, make a guess. I took all my scribbled notes and tried to weigh everything. Recent performance seemed most important, but I also considered the head-to-head history. I am not going to tell you the result here, but I realized that predicting the winner is hard!

This whole thing was more complicated than I thought! There’s a lot of information out there, and figuring out what’s important and what’s not is tough. It was fun to try, though, I might try doing it for my favourite sports and see how it goes.
