Alright, let’s talk about Mortefi. I got him not too long ago, and everyone was saying he’s a pretty decent support, especially that off-field damage thing he does. So, I thought, okay, let’s build him up and see what happens.

First thing I did was look at his skills, or “Forte” as the game calls it. Man, there’s a bunch of stuff there. You got the basic attack, the Resonance Skill (that dash-back shot), the Resonance Liberation (the big ultimate move), and then this whole Forte Circuit thing, the ‘Burning Melody’ and ‘Thundering Flames’. It wasn’t immediately obvious what I should dump my resources into first.
Figuring Out What Matters
I started kinda randomly, putting a few levels into his Resonance Skill because I used it often to dodge and shoot. It was alright, added a bit of damage. But it didn’t feel like a game-changer, you know? His basic attack? Nah, I wasn’t planning on keeping him on the field much, so that felt like a waste early on.
Then I took a closer look at that Forte Circuit, the ‘Thundering Flames’ part. It triggers when teammates hit with Heavy Attacks after his ultimate or skill. This seemed like his main job – adding extra coordinated attacks. So, I thought, maybe this is the thing to level up first?
So, I started pumping materials into the Forte Circuit. It directly boosts the damage of those coordinated attacks. And yeah, I definitely started noticing a difference. When my main damage dealer did their heavy hits, Mortefi’s backup fire felt chunkier. It felt more impactful.
My Leveling Order Journey
After playing around for a few days, switching things up, here’s the priority I landed on that felt right for me:

- Forte Circuit (Thundering Flames): This became my absolute top priority. Boosting the damage of his coordinated attacks felt like the biggest increase to his overall contribution. This is his core gimmick, boosting his pals.
- Resonance Liberation (Violent Finale): My number two. This enables the coordinated attacks for a good duration and also gives a Heavy Attack damage buff to the team. Leveling it increases the buff and its own initial damage. Seemed super important for his support role.
- Resonance Skill (Passionate Variation): Third in line. It enables the coordinated attacks too, but for fewer hits than the Liberation. Still useful, and leveling it adds damage, so worth doing after the main stuff.
- Basic Attack (Angry Volley): Pretty low priority for me. He’s mostly off-field. I barely touch this unless I mess up my rotation badly.
- Intro Skill (Ride the Lightning): Lowest priority. It does some damage when he swaps in, but it’s infrequent and not his main purpose. I leveled this last, basically when I had spare materials.
Honestly, focusing hard on the Forte Circuit first really made Mortefi click for me. Before that, he felt kinda… okay? But once those coordinated attacks started hitting harder, he really felt like he was pulling his weight, adding that consistent off-field damage everyone talks about.
So yeah, that was my process. A bit of trial and error, looking at what the skills actually do and thinking about how I wanted to use him – mostly as an off-field buddy who makes my main hitter stronger. Took some time and resources, but figuring out that Forte priority made building him way more satisfying.
