Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “s.a.f.e pilot best talent” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I wanted to see if I could actually put this into practice, you know, not just read about it, but do it. So, here’s how it went down.

First, I figured out what the heck it even stood for. Seriously, had to write it down. It’s like this:
- s: Set clear goals.
- a: Actively listen.
- f: Foster open communication.
- e: Encourage growth.
Getting Started (The Messy Part)
I started by picking a small project, something I could actually finish. No point in going crazy, right? I chose to streamline my morning routine. Sounds lame, but it’s something I’ve been putting off forever.
Setting clear goals (the ‘s’) was surprisingly hard. I didn’t just want to “be better in the morning.” I needed specifics. So, I wrote down: “Wake up at 6:30 AM, make coffee, do 15 minutes of stretching, and be at my desk by 7:30 AM.” Boom. Measurable goals.
The Listening and Communication Bit
The ‘a’ (actively listen) was kind to myself,my body was telling me 7:00 AM was more realistic. So I am listening! I adjusted my goal to 7:00 AM wake-up.
For ‘f’ (foster open communication),I keep myself accountable. I am telling myself, “Hey, you’re doing great, even if you snoozed once!” It’s about being honest with myself, no judgment, just facts.

The Growth Part (and the Stumbles)
‘e’ (encourage growth) is where I’m at now. I’m not perfect. Some days, I hit snooze three times. But, I’m learning. I’m trying new things. Like, I realized that if I put my alarm across the room, I have to get out of bed. Genius, right?
I am also trying different stretches. Some mornings, I am just not feeling it, and that’s okay. I’m allowing myself to adapt, to grow. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about getting a little bit better each day.
So, that’s my “s.a.f.e pilot best talent” experiment so far. It’s messy, it’s real, and it’s definitely a work in progress. But, I’m seeing results. I’m actually doing the things I set out to do, and that feels pretty darn good.
