Alright, so listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about this fella, Trevor Bauer, and them Mets. Heard a whole bunch of chatter ’bout him, so let’s try and make sense of it all.
Now, this Bauer fella, he’s a pitcher, you know, one of them guys who throws the ball real hard. Folks say he’s pretty good at it too. Won some kinda fancy award, the “Cy Young” thingy, back in 2020. Sounds like a big deal, I reckon. Folks were makin’ a big fuss over him, sayin’ he was the best pitcher around. He was playin’ with them Dodgers out in Los Angeles then. Big money, you know? Heard tell he was gettin’ paid millions of dollars, somethin’ like a hundred and two million for three years! Lordy, that’s a lot of hay.
But then, things got messy. Real messy. Somethin’ ’bout him gettin’ into trouble, you know? They said he did somethin’ bad, somethin’ ’bout “domestic violence” and “sexual assault.” Don’t rightly know all the details, and frankly, I don’t wanna know. Sounds awful, though. They kicked him outta the game for a long while, said he couldn’t play for somethin’ like 194 games. That’s a whole heap of games, let me tell ya.
- He was suspended, big time.
- Dodgers let him go.
- Then he became a free agent, which means he could go play for any team that wanted him.
Now, here’s where them Mets come in. See, there was a time, back when Bauer was a free agent, that folks thought he might go play for the Mets. New York Mets, that’s them. They play baseball in the city, big city, lots of people. The Mets, they were lookin’ for a good pitcher, and Bauer, well, he was a good pitcher, even with all the trouble. There was all sorts of talk, rumors flyin’ around like chickens in a barnyard. Some folks said the Mets were the “favorites” to get him, that they really wanted him on their team. They said the Mets were “active” in tryin’ to get good players, and Bauer was one of ’em.
But things didn’t quite work out that way, did they? Bauer didn’t end up with the Mets. He went on and became a free agent again recently. Ain’t nobody picked him up yet, though. Seems like nobody wants him after all that trouble. Maybe them Mets are thinkin’ ’bout it again, maybe not. Hard to say. Baseball’s a funny business, you know? One minute you’re on top of the world, winnin’ awards and makin’ millions, the next minute you’re outta work and nobody wants ya.
It’s a shame, really. All that talent, and he messed it up. Reminds me of my cousin Billy, always had a knack for fixin’ cars, coulda been a real good mechanic, but he got mixed up with the wrong crowd and ended up… well, let’s just say he ain’t fixin’ cars no more. Life’s like that sometimes, I guess. You make your choices, and you gotta live with ’em.
So, that’s the story with Trevor Bauer and the Mets, as best as I can tell ya. A whole lotta fuss, a whole lotta talk, and in the end, nothin’ much happened. He’s still out there, lookin’ for a team, and the Mets are still out there, lookin’ for a pitcher. Maybe they’ll end up together someday, maybe they won’t. Only time will tell.
But one thing’s for sure, this whole thing just goes to show ya, money and talent ain’t everything. You gotta be a good person too, or it’ll all come crashin’ down around ya. That’s the truth, plain and simple.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about it. Hope it made some kinda sense to ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. Don’t want ’em burnin’, you know?
