Alright, folks, let me tell you about my little project today – making a drop shot weight holder. I’ve been fishing a lot lately, and I got tired of my drop shot weights rolling around, getting tangled, and generally being a pain in the butt.

So, I decided to do something about it. I’m not the handiest guy, but I figured, how hard could it be? I started by gathering some stuff I had lying around.
My materials:
- An old foam pool noodle. (Yeah, the kind your kids play with in the pool.)
- A sharp knife. (Be careful with this part, seriously.)
- A small piece of plastic – an old bottle will do this trick.
First, I cut a chunk off the pool noodle, about 6 inches long. Didn’t measure it precisely, just eyeballed it. Then, I carefully sliced a slit down the side of the noodle, going about halfway through. This is where the weights will eventually go.
I did this a few more times, making sure the slits were spaced out enough so the weights wouldn’t bump into each other too much. Five or six slits seemed about right for the size of the noodle piece I had.
Then, I cut the small plastic into pieces, and inserted the into each of the slits, in order to have each weight separated, avoiding them to get tangled to each other.
And that was pretty much it! I stuck my drop shot weights into the slits, and they held perfectly. No more rolling around, no more tangled mess. It’s not pretty, but it works like a charm!

Honestly, the whole thing took me maybe 10 minutes. It’s super simple, but it’s made my fishing trips a little less frustrating. If you’re dealing with the same annoying drop shot weight problem, give this a try. It’s a cheap and easy fix!
