Okay, so I was really curious about Tiger Woods and his caddie at the US Open. I mean, that guy, Joe LaCava, he’s been on Tiger’s bag for some big wins. I wanted to see what the deal was with that whole relationship.
First off, I started digging around the internet for some basic info. You know, just trying to figure out how long they’ve been working together and what they’ve accomplished. It’s pretty wild, they’ve been a team since like 2011, and LaCava was there for Tiger’s Masters win in 2019. That’s huge!
Then, I watched a bunch of old tournament footage. It’s actually kind of interesting to see how they interact on the course. They seem to have this unspoken communication thing going on. Lots of subtle nods and gestures, I mean they were really going for it. And LaCava, he’s always got Tiger’s back, handing him clubs, reading the greens, keeping him focused.
Getting a Feel for the Game

- Checked out interviews with both Tiger and LaCava.
- Even read some articles about the history of caddies in golf.
After that, I decided to try and understand the strategy side of things. I started looking into how caddies help golfers pick the right clubs and plan their shots. It’s way more complicated than I thought! There’s all this stuff about wind, distance, and the slope of the green that they have to consider. It is so interesting!
Finally, I kind of put myself in LaCava’s shoes, you know? I imagined what it would be like to caddie for one of the greatest golfers ever, especially at a major tournament like the US Open. The pressure must be insane! But also, what a thrill it must be to be part of something so historic. They are such a great team and it makes me want to start playing golf, even though I know it takes a lot of skill.
So yeah, that’s basically what I did. I went down this rabbit hole of Tiger Woods, Joe LaCava, and the US Open. I watched some videos, read a few things, and came away with a whole new appreciation for what these guys do out there. It’s definitely more than just carrying a bag!
