So, the other day I was just scrolling through some old sports highlights, you know, reminiscing. And a picture of Tom Brady popped up, maybe from his early Patriots days. Then I saw a more recent photo, and I thought, wait a minute… something’s different up top.

It got me curious, you know? Like, did Tom Brady get hair plugs? His hairline looked kinda thin back in the day, receding a bit maybe. Now? It seems fuller, stronger. It wasn’t some overnight thing, but looking back at photos year by year, it just feels… improved.
My Little Investigation Started
I decided to actually look into it, just for my own curiosity. Didn’t plan on becoming an expert or anything, just wanted to see what I could find.
First step: Pictures. Lots of them.
- I pulled up photos from his early 2000s NFL career. You could definitely see his hairline was higher, especially at the temples. It wasn’t bad, but it was noticeable.
- Then I looked at photos from maybe the mid-2010s onwards. Big difference. The hairline looks lower, straighter across, and just generally thicker overall.
It wasn’t just the hairline, either. The overall density seems better now than it did when he was, say, 30. Which is kinda the opposite of how things usually go for guys, right?
Looking Around Online
Obviously, I wasn’t the first person to wonder about this. A quick search showed loads of people talking about it online, forums, articles, you name it. Lots of speculation.

Some folks pointed to specific years where the change seemed more obvious. Others mentioned how his hair sometimes looked a bit sparse under harsh stadium lights back then, compared to now where it looks consistently solid.
Of course, there’s no official word from Brady himself. Why would there be? It’s his personal business. And let’s be real, guys in the spotlight, especially athletes who transition into broadcasting or business, they care about their appearance. Nothing wrong with that.
So, What’s My Take?
After looking at all those pictures and seeing the chatter, here’s what I think based on my own little deep dive:
It sure looks like something was done. Whether it was plugs, or some other kind of advanced treatment, I can’t say for sure, obviously. I’m no doctor. But the visual change over the years is pretty convincing to my eyes.
You compare the early photos to the later ones, and it’s hard to ignore the difference in the hairline and the overall thickness. Could it just be amazing styling, different haircuts, or maybe some miracle shampoo? Maybe. But the change seems pretty significant for just that.

Ultimately, does it matter? Nah, not really. Good for him, honestly. He looks great. It was just one of those things I got curious about and decided to spend a bit of time looking into. Just comparing old pictures to new ones tells a pretty interesting story, even if we don’t have the official chapter headings.
