Okay, so the other day I was watching some Kyrie Irving highlights, and I got curious about his background. I knew he was born in Australia, but I didn’t know much else. Then I stumbled upon some info about his mom, Elizabeth Larson, and I was like, “Whoa, I gotta dig into this.”

So, I started with a basic search. I just typed “Kyrie Irving mother” into the search bar and hit enter.
Digging Through Articles
The search results popped up, and I started clicking on some of the articles. I skimmed through a bunch, trying to get a feel for the story. Most of them talked about the same basic facts:
- Her name was Elizabeth Larson.
- She passed away when Kyrie was only four years old.
- She had a Native American(Standing Rock Sioux tribe) background.
I get those basic infomation from different articles.
Piecing Together the Story
After reading several articles, I started to piece together a bit more of the story. Apparently, Elizabeth was a standout athlete herself, playing basketball in college. I mean, it makes sense, right? Kyrie’s gotta get his skills from somewhere!
I felt really touched reading about her. Because I’m now knowing that Elizabeth passed away from an illness when Kyrie was super young.

Reflecting on It All
After spending some time learning about Elizabeth, I just sat back and thought about it. I could try to know Kyrie better by knowing his mother, Elizabeth. You know, the importance of family, heritage, and overcoming adversity and it makes me respect him even more, not just as a basketball player, but as a person.
