Okay, so I got this idea to dig into the 1986 Atlanta Braves roster. You know, just a random thought that popped into my head. I figured, why not? Let’s give it a shot and see what I can find.
First, I started by doing some searches on the web. I just typed in “1986 Atlanta Braves roster” and started scrolling through the results. I found a bunch of different websites, some with stats, some with player profiles, and some with just general info about the team.
- I started jotting down the names of all the players I could find.
- I also noted their positions, whether they were pitchers, catchers, infielders, or outfielders.
- Then, I looked up some basic stats for each player, like batting average, home runs, RBIs for the hitters, and ERA, wins, and strikeouts for the pitchers.
As I was gathering all this data, I started to remember some of the players from that season. Dale Murphy, of course, was the big star. And then there was Bob Horner, who was always a threat to hit a home run. On the pitching side, there was Rick Mahler and Zane Smith. I also stumbled upon that the team ended with 72 wins and 89 losses.
I decided to organize everything into a simple table. It was not perfect but it was ok. I listed all the players in one column, their positions in another, and then some key stats in the other columns. I also added a column for some notes and tidbits I found about each player.
After I finished putting the table together, I took a look back at what I had done. It was pretty cool to see the whole roster laid out like that. It brought back some memories of watching those games as a kid. I mean, it was not the best season for the Braves, but it was still fun to look back on it.
I thought about sharing my little project with some friends, but then I figured, why not share it with everyone? So, I decided to write up this post and put it out there. Maybe some other Braves fans will enjoy it too.
It was a fun little trip down memory lane, and it was all thanks to a random thought that popped into my head. You never know where a little curiosity might lead you!
