Alright, so the other day I was watching a baseball documentary and the name “Babe Ruth” kept popping up. Obviously, I knew he was a legend, but then I started wondering, “How did he actually die?” So, I did what anyone would do – I started digging.

My Little Research Journey
First, I just did a quick search. Nothing fancy, just typed in “what did Babe Ruth die of” and boom, the answer was right there. It said throat cancer. But I wanted to know a little more.
I read a bit further and found out that he died back in 1948. That’s way before all the fancy medical treatments we have today. Apparently, he had some hormone therapy and even surgery. It seems like they really tried everything they could back then.
I found it pretty interesting(and sad) that he was actually one of the first people to get both radiation and chemotherapy, one after another. It is a little bit of shocking to see that ,even you’re a super star, those treatments were not a magic fix for him, but it’s amazing to think about how far medicine has come.
What I’ve found
- Babe Ruth died from throat cancer.
- It happened on August 16, 1948.
- He had some pretty intense treatments for the time, but they didn’t work.
- He was a pioneer in receiving both radiation and chemo.
So, yeah, that’s my little deep dive into Babe Ruth’s death. Kinda sad, but also a reminder of how lucky we are to have the medical advances we do today. It’s crazy to think how much things have changed in just a few decades!
