Alright, let’s yak about this Terry Crews fella, the one you see on the TV all the time. He’s a big fella, muscles everywhere, always smilin’ and makin’ people laugh. But you know, before he was makin’ us chuckle, he was runnin’ around on a football field. Yep, Terry Crews played in the NFL, that’s the football league all them fellas play in.
Now, I ain’t no football expert, mind you. I watch a game here and there, mostly when the grandkids are over. But I do know a thing or two about hard work, and that Terry Crews, he sure worked hard. They say he got drafted by the L.A. Rams way back in 1991. That’s a long time ago, before most of you youngsters were even born. Eleventh round, they say. Don’t know what that means exactly, but it sounds like he wasn’t the top pick or nothin’.
- He played just a few games for the Rams, six they say. Then poof, he was gone for a year. Maybe he got tired, maybe he got hurt, who knows?
- But then, he came back! Signed up with the Green Bay Packers in ’93. Now them Packers, they’re a famous team, even I know that. But Terry didn’t stick around there long either.
- He ended up with the San Diego Chargers. Played there for a bit, until ’96. So, he bounced around a bit, that Terry Crews. Not like them star players you see on TV all the time.
Seems like football wasn’t really his thing, even though he played from 1991 to 1996, it wasn’t a long time, wasn’t it? I mean, he was good, I reckon, gotta be strong to play that game. But maybe it wasn’t what he was meant to do. Life’s funny that way, sometimes you think you’re headed one way, and then bam! You end up somewhere else entirely.
And that’s what happened to Terry Crews, I tell ya. He left the football field and went on to become a big-time movie star, a Hollywood sensation, that’s what them fancy folks call it. Can you believe it? From runnin’ around with a pigskin to actin’ on the big screen. He’s been in all sorts of things, movies like The Longest Yard and White Chicks. I even seen him on a TV show once, makin’ folks laugh, I think it was Everybody Hates Chris. He played that fella Julius Rock, I think he acts better than play football, don’t you think?
He’s also on that show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. My niece loves that one, always gigglin’ at the TV. Terry Crews plays a cop on there, a funny one, not like them serious cops you see on the news. And now, he’s even hostin’ a show, America’s Got Talent, where all sorts of folks show off their skills. Singin’, dancin’, jugglin’, you name it. He’s really doin’ well now, Terry Crews is.
So, you see, Terry Crews, he started out playin’ football, but he didn’t stay there. He found somethin’ else he was good at, somethin’ he loved. And that’s a good lesson for all of us, ain’t it? If somethin’ ain’t workin’ out, don’t be afraid to try somethin’ new. You never know where life might take you. That Terry Crews, a football player turned actor. Who woulda thought? He’s come a long way, that’s for sure. He’s living proof that you can always change your path. And that, my friends, is somethin’ worth rememberin’.
Terry Alan Crews, that’s his full name, born in 1968. He’s been busy, that fella. From football to movies to TV shows. He even had his own reality show, The Family Crews, with his wife and kids. He’s done it all, it seems. And he always seems so happy, so grateful. That’s what I like about him. He reminds me of my grandson, always smilin’ and full of energy. That Terry Crews is a good egg, that’s what I say. He shows everyone what you can do if you put your mind to it, football or no football.
So next time you see Terry Crews on TV, remember where he started. Remember that even though he played some football for the Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, and San Diego Chargers he didn’t stay there. He changed his mind, changed his path, and look at him now. A real success story, that Terry Crews. And a good reminder that life’s full of surprises, never stick in one place without trying, that’s what old folks like me would say.
