Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my putting lately, and I decided to give the Spider Mallet putter a try. I’ve heard a lot about it, seen it on TV, and figured, why not?

First thing I did was head to the golf shop. I wanted to get a feel for it, you know? I tried out a few different models they had on their little practice green. Right away, I noticed the weight. It’s definitely heavier than my old blade putter. Felt kinda strange at first, but I could see how it might help with stability.
Next, I took it out to my home course. Gotta test it in real-world conditions, right? I spent a good hour just on the putting green, getting used to the alignment aids and the feel of the ball coming off the face.
My Practice Routine
- Short Putts: Started with some straight 3-footers. Just trying to get a consistent roll and feel the weight.
- Lag Putts: Moved back to about 20-30 feet. Focused on distance control, which is where I struggle sometimes.
- Breaking Putts: Then, I tried some left-to-right and right-to-left putts. Wanted to see how the alignment lines worked with the break.
I was not very good at the begining , but, I noticed my stroke felt smoother. That heavy head seemed to keep my hands from getting too active.I do not know if it’s a good putter, but it is a try.
The big test was playing a full round. I will keep using it and see how it goes. It’s definitely a different feel, and it might take some time to get completely comfortable, but I’m optimistic. It’s all about those short putts, right?
