Okay, so today I wanna share my experience with this “Set of Rounds” thing from the New York Times Crossword. I’m not really a crossword expert or anything, but I do them sometimes for fun. I got stuck on this one clue, “Set of Rounds,” and it took me a while to figure it out.
First off, I started by looking at the date. It said January 27, 2024, so I knew it was a recent puzzle. Then I started digging around online to see if anyone else had the answer. I found a few different websites that had crossword answers, and a lot of them mentioned this “Set of Rounds” clue.
Some of them said it was a recent clue from January 28, or even January 26. So, I guess it’s been in a few puzzles lately? Anyway, most of them said the answer had something to do with AEIOU. I was still pretty lost at this point. I saw something about a “supervocalic” word, which I guess means a word that has all the vowels. But I couldn’t figure out how that fit with “Set of Rounds.”
- I kept searching, and I saw one place that said the answer was “SHARE,” but that was for a Wordle puzzle, not the crossword. So that didn’t help much.
- I saw a bunch of these sites say there was only one answer, which made me feel like I was missing something obvious.
- I even found a site that listed a ton of possible answers, but none of them seemed right. I was starting to get frustrated.
I spent a good chunk of time on this, probably like nine minutes just staring at it. Finally, I stumbled on another site that explained it a little better. It showed that it had only one possible answer in its database, and it was obvious I was right to use the online database to find the answer.
So, yeah, that’s my story about the “Set of Rounds” crossword clue. It was a little annoying, but I learned something new. And I guess that’s what it’s all about, right?
