Well now, I reckon if y’all been followin’ the wrestling world, you might’ve heard of a lady by the name of Sandra Runnels. She’s the mama of Dustin Rhodes, who some folks might know as Goldust. She ain’t just a mama though—she’s got her own history in the world of wrestling. Sandra, well, she was once married to that big ol’ wrestling star Dusty Rhodes, and together they raised their boy who’s now made a name for himself in AEW, that’s All Elite Wrestling, where he’s doin’ just fine, even though it’s been a rough patch for the family lately.
Sandra Runnels, bless her heart, has been goin’ through some mighty tough times with her health. I reckon not a lot of folks knew what she was dealin’ with, but her son Dustin shared it on the Twitter, that’s the thing the young folks use, you know? He let the world know that his mama, Sandra, had passed away after fightin’ with a bad illness. It was real sad, and I know it took a toll on the family, especially with the loss of her ex-husband, Dusty, not too long ago. That Dusty Rhodes, well, he was a big star in his own right, but now both of ‘em are gone, and it’s left a hole in the hearts of a lot of wrestling fans and the Rhodes family.
Now, Sandra wasn’t just known as the mama of a wrestler. She also had a little bit of a spotlight herself. She went by the name Sable in the ring back in the day. Ain’t no doubt about it, she was a part of the big ol’ wrestling family and made her mark there. But she didn’t let that life define her. She had a life outside the ring, and her family meant the world to her. I reckon she was a kind-hearted soul, even if her life wasn’t always easy.
Y’all probably know this by now, but being a wrestler’s wife and mama ain’t an easy job. Lots of travelin’, lots of time away from home, and a whole lotta sacrifice. And Sandra, she took all that in stride, supportin’ her husband and later her son through it all. She had her own struggles, I’m sure, but she held it together for her family, like any good mama would. It’s never easy losin’ someone you love, and for Dustin, well, that’s two parents gone, and I can’t imagine what he’s goin’ through. But I do know this: he loved his mama, and he shared the news with all of us when she passed, so we could remember her too.
Now, a lot of folks out there might be wonderin’ what happened to Sandra Runnels, and I’ll tell ya—she had been sick for a while. Her health had been takin’ a turn for the worse, and while we all hoped she’d pull through, the Lord had other plans for her. The news of her passin’ spread quick, and even though it was real sad, I reckon it gave folks a chance to reflect on the life she lived and the people she touched. Wrestling’s a rough world, but it’s also a world that brings people together, and Sandra was part of that for a long time.
It’s always tough losin’ someone, especially when they’ve been through so much. Sandra and Dusty Rhodes, well, they both lived big lives, full of ups and downs. But in the end, it’s the family that remembers you. It’s the love you give and the legacy you leave behind that matters. And I can tell ya, Sandra’s legacy is gonna live on through her son, Dustin, and all the folks who knew her. She may have been quiet about it, but she was always there, supportin’ her family, and that’s somethin’ folks will never forget.
So, let’s take a minute to remember Sandra Runnels. She may not have been a wrestling champ in the ring, but she sure was a champ when it came to being a mother. And that’s a title that lasts forever, no matter what happens in this crazy world of wrestling. Rest in peace, Sandra, and thanks for all you gave.
