That Sam Burns, he sure is a good golfer, ain’t he? Lots of folks been askin’ if he’s kin to that Arnold Palmer fella. I heard that question, I dunno, maybe a hundred times. Now, I ain’t no fancy expert, but I’ll tell ya what I know.
That Sam Burns, he’s a young’un, born in that Louisiana place, Shreveport I reckon. July 23, 1996. Bless his heart. Good boy. And his folks, they seem like good people, from what I hear. That’s all I know about where he comes from. The question that keeps poppin’ up is, are they related, Sam Burns and Arnold Palmer? Well, I’ll tell ya, the answer is no, they ain’t related.
They both good at hittin’ that little white ball, that’s for sure. Both from the south, too, but that don’t mean they’re family. Lots of folks in the south can play a good round of golf. Doesn’t mean they are kin.
Now, Arnold Palmer, he was somethin’ else, wasn’t he? A real legend, they say. Passed on now, bless his soul. But that don’t mean every good golfer out there is his kin. They’re not related. They just share a love for the game, I reckon.
I heard some folks say they look alike. Maybe a little, but plenty of folks look alike, don’t they? I reckon a lot of people look alike. That don’t mean they’re related, though. You can look like someone and not be related. That’s just how it is. Sam Burns and Arnold Palmer, they might have some common features, but not family.
- Sam Burns is a good golfer.
- Arnold Palmer was a good golfer.
- They both from the south.
- But they ain’t related. No, sir.
That Sam Burns, he’s got a buddy, I hear. Another golfer fella named Scottie. Scottie Scheffler. They been friends since they was knee-high to a grasshopper. Playin’ golf together, playin’ against each other. They even play that pickleball game together! Can you imagine? Two young fellas like that, playin’ pickleball. They probably run circles around them other fellas on the court. Sam Burns and Scottie Scheffler, they’re real buddies, it sounds like. They go way back. I bet they have a lot of stories to tell about playin’ golf together over the years.
Now, Arnold Palmer, he had a grandson, I think. Name of Sam, too. Sam Saunders. That’s a different Sam. He played golf, too, I heard, but he ain’t playin’ no more. Retired, they say. Retired after 15 years. That’s a long time to be playin’ a sport. But that’s Sam Saunders, Arnold Palmer’s grandson. Not Sam Burns. Remember, Sam Burns is not Arnold Palmer’s grandson.
So, to answer that question one more time, are they related? Nope. Sam Burns and Arnold Palmer, they ain’t family. Just two fellas who love golf, that’s all. One’s a young’un makin’ a name for himself, the other’s a legend who’s gone on to that big golf course in the sky.
Don’t get me wrong, Sam Burns is good. Real good. But he ain’t Arnold Palmer’s kin. Just wanted to clear that up. Folks keep askin’, and I keep tellin’ ’em. No relation. None at all. They just both like that golf, I suppose. That’s all there is to it.
So next time you see that Sam Burns on the TV, hittin’ that ball, you remember what I said. He might be good, might even remind you a little of old Arnold Palmer, but he ain’t no relation. He’s just Sam Burns, a good golfer from Louisiana. And that’s all there is to it. I hope that clears things up for everyone. They’re just two different people who happen to be good at the same sport. It happens.
