Okay, so today I decided to dive into the work of Royce Renee Woods. I’d heard the name before, seen it floating around, but never really looked. So, that’s what I did. Started from scratch.

Getting Started
First, I just did a simple search. Typed in “Royce Renee Woods” and see what came up.
The results was some basic bio stuff, a few images, mentions of exhibitions, you know, the usual. It gave me a general sense of the artist – Black woman, contemporary art, deals with themes of identity and representation. Alright, cool. But that’s just surface level, right?
Digging Deeper
Next, I wanted to actually see the art. I spent some time to looking at images of her work.
I started noticing recurring elements. Lots of bold colors, very stylized figures, often with these really intense, direct gazes. There’s a definite graphic quality, almost like poster art in some pieces, but then others are more painterly. You can feel that it is a mix of styles.
Putting it all Together
I am feeling a little proud of myself from all that reserch. I guess what I wanted to do today got a satifying result.
