Okay, guys, let’s talk about the 2015 Houston Cougars football season. Man, that was a ride! I remember thinking, “Okay, let’s see what these guys can do.”

I started by, you know, just watching the games. Every single one. I wanted to get a feel for the team, their strengths, their weaknesses. Just pure observation at first. I took some basic notes during, mostly scribbled stuff on a notepad about what I was seeing.
Then I got a little more serious. I started keeping track of, like, simple stats. Wins, losses, that kind of obvious stuff. I made a super basic spreadsheet – nothing fancy, I promise. I just wanted to see the numbers laid out.
- Wins
- Losses
- Points For
- Points Against
After each game, I updated my little spreadsheet. It was kind of a ritual, you know? Game, notes, spreadsheet. It helped me stay on top of things, and it was, dare I say, satisfying?
I then dug a little deeper. Went online, looked for some more game summaries, you know just other people perspective about that year. I also read the official team website news release.
So, I put all this together – my notes, my simple stats, the stuff I found online. I started to see some patterns, like how they performed really well at certain times, and not so great at others. It wasn’t rocket science, just putting the pieces together.

The Outcome
What I finally realized, looking back at the whole season, My way of seeing the game allowed me to get some good insights.
The whole process – the watching, the note-taking, the spreadsheet, everything – It helped me understand the season in a way I wouldn’t have otherwise. Just sharing, I think it is a good experience!
