Thinking About Michael Carter’s Next Stop
Alright, so I spent some time today just thinking about Michael Carter. You know, the running back. Where could he actually land? It got me digging into things a bit, trying to figure out what makes sense.

First off, I sat down and really thought about Carter himself. What’s his game? He’s not a huge guy, definitely more quick than powerful. Showed some flashes, especially catching the ball out of the backfield. He seems like a guy who fits best in a committee, maybe as that third-down option or change-of-pace back. Not really an every-down workhorse, based on what I’ve seen.
So, with that picture in my head, I started scanning the league. My next step was just looking around at different teams. Who actually needs a guy like him? You filter out the teams that are totally stacked at running back, right? No point thinking about those.
Looking at Team Needs
I zeroed in on teams where the running back room felt a little thin, or maybe lacked a specific pass-catching threat. I pulled up some depth charts, just eyeballing them really. No fancy analytics, just looking at the names and what roles they usually fill.
Here’s kind of how my thinking went:
- Okay, does this team need a primary back? Probably not Carter’s role.
- Does this team need a cheap depth option who knows how to run routes? Okay, now we’re talking.
- Is their current third-down back unreliable or getting old? Potential spot.
- Are they running an offensive scheme that uses multiple backs frequently? That helps his chances.
I went through this mental checklist for a bunch of teams. Some got crossed off pretty quick. Others, I lingered on a bit longer. I considered teams that maybe just suffered an injury, or teams that didn’t spend a lot of draft capital on the position recently.

Possible Spots I Landed On
After churning through all that, a few places felt more plausible than others. It wasn’t scientific, just gut feeling based on the process I followed.
One team I kept circling back to was maybe the Chargers. They often like guys who can contribute in the passing game, and depending on how their depth chart shakes out, he could maybe fight for a spot there.
Then I thought about the Cowboys. They always seem to be looking for value deals and depth pieces at running back. Carter fits that mold – probably wouldn’t cost much, offers a specific skill set.
Another one, maybe a bit more of a long shot, could be the Giants. They know him from his time with the Jets nearby. Could be a camp body at minimum, maybe push for a roster spot if he shows well.
Look, it’s tough to pin down exactly where a player like Carter ends up. The league is unpredictable. Free agency, injuries, guys emerging in camp – it all changes the picture fast. But that’s the process I went through today, just thinking it over and trying to connect the dots based on his skills and potential team needs. That’s where my head’s at on possible Michael Carter landing spots right now.
