Okay, so I wanted to see for myself what the fuss was all about with PGA Tour club head speeds. I mean, you always hear about these guys bombing drives, but what does that actually translate to in terms of speed?

Digging into the Numbers
First, I did some quick searching online.I found some current data. Seems like the average is somewhere around 115.87 mph. That’s fast. Like, really fast. My own swing? Let’s just say it’s… not that.
My (Humble) Attempt
So, I have a regular driving range, I tried it with my driver.
- Warm-up: Gotta loosen up those muscles. Did some stretches, took some practice swings. Felt good (for a while, at least).
- The Swings: I tried my normal swing. Focus on good contact, solid form, the whole nine yards.
- checking result:That’s a far cry from the 115+ mph the pros are hitting, I just got a speed with around 90mph.
The Reality Check
It really puts things in perspective. These PGA Tour guys are a different breed. They’ve got the technique, the power, and the consistency to generate incredible club head speed, and it was a fun experiment trying to see how I measured up (even if I came up way, way short!).
