Okay, so I was messing around with the crossword puzzles again today, and I kept seeing this clue, “rounded hat.” It’s only got like five spaces for the answer, so I’m thinking, what the heck kind of rounded hat names are that short?
First, I tried to think of all the hats I could. Baseball caps? Nope, too long. Top hats? Definitely not rounded, and way too long. I even went through all those weird historical hats my grandma used to talk about – still nothing.
Then, I decided to be a little more systematic about it. I grabbed a piece of paper and started listing hat types:
- Beanie?
- Beret??
- Bowler???
The “Bowler” had potiential,but it did not fit.
I googled “five-letter hat names”. I mean, why not, right? A whole bunch of stuff popped up, but most of it was, like, totally obscure.
Finally, after what felt like forever, there’s a webpage listing that the anwser maybe “DERBY”! It has the same meaning with Bowler!
DERBY!
I slotted “DERBY” into the crossword, and bam! It fit perfectly. I did the happy dance and shouted “Gotcha!”
