Alright, let’s talk about them basketball fellas, the ones who jump real high. You know, like them birds flyin’ up in the sky, only these fellas are doin’ it on a court. We’re gonna gab about the highest verticals in NBA history, yeah, the jumpin’ stuff.
Now, I heard tell of this fella, Dennis Smith Jr. Folks say back in 2021, when he was just a young’un in the league, he jumped a whole 48 inches! That’s like four of them rulers stacked up, all in one jump! Can you believe that? I reckon that’s mighty high, higher than my ol’ rooster can jump, that’s for sure. They say there ain’t no reason to doubt it, so I guess it’s true.
Then there’s this Michael Jordan fella. Everyone and their grandma knows about him. He was jumpin’ way back when, but they still talkin’ about him. They say he also jumped 48 inches, just like that Dennis fella. Some folks even say his jump got higher every year, like he was growin’ wings or somethin’! And they say he could stay up there for almost a whole second, just hangin’ in the air. That’s longer than it takes me to shoo a fly off my pie!
Now, I ain’t seen these fellas jump myself, mind you. I just hear things, you know? Folks gossipin’ and such. But I reckon if so many people are sayin’ it, there must be some truth to it. I mean, 48 inches, that’s taller than my grandson when he was a little tyke. Makes you wonder how they do it, all that jumpin’ and runnin’ around. Must be eatin’ their Wheaties, I tell ya.
- Dennis Smith Jr. – 48 inches (they say, back in his rookie days)
- Michael Jordan – 48 inches (a legend, they say, hangin’ in the air like a hawk)
There’s talk of other fellas too, jumpin’ high and makin’ a name for themselves. This Keon fella, they were takin’ pictures of him at some Nets Media Day, showin’ off his hops. And that Zach LaVine, in a game against them Cavaliers, he went up, up, up! Even that big fella, Zion, he’s got some jump to him, like a big ol’ bear reachin’ for honey. They all jumpin’ and dunkin’, showin’ off for the crowds.
Now, they got all sorts of records, they tell me. Like this Javier Sotomayor fella, from Cuba. He ain’t no basketball player, but he jumped over eight feet! Can you imagine? That’s taller than my doorframe! And then there’s this Michael Wilson, part of them Globetrotters. They say he jumped 55 inches, and even dunked on a hoop that was 12 feet high! Twelve feet! That’s taller than my barn, I swear!
So, you see, these fellas, they ain’t just playin’ games. They’re flyin’, they’re soarin’, they’re defy’in gravity, just like them birds. And whether it’s 48 inches or 55 inches, or somewhere in between, it’s all mighty impressive. Makes you wonder what they’ll be doin’ next, jumpin’ over the whole darn stadium, maybe? Who knows! But I reckon it’ll be somethin’ to see.
In conclusion, lots of fellas can jump real high, but some jump higher than others. Dennis Smith Jr. and Michael Jordan, they both famous for jumpin’ 48 inches. And there’s others too, all tryin’ to reach for the sky. It’s a sight to behold, that’s for sure, even if you just hearin’ about it like me. And who knows, maybe one day some young fella will come along and jump even higher. The sky’s the limit, as they say.
