Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this “MLB The Show 24” thing. My grandson, that whippersnapper, he’s always yellin’ about it. Somethin’ about “roster updates” and such. Sounds like a whole lotta hooey to me, but he says it’s important, so here we go.
So, this game, right? It’s got all them baseball fellas in it. But them fellas, they ain’t always playin’ for the same team, ya know? They get traded, or they start playin’ better, or maybe they just get plain old worse. That’s where these “roster updates” come in, see?
What are these roster updates anyway?
Well, near as I can figure, it’s like this. Every now and then, the folks who make this here game, they go and change things up. They move the players around to the right teams, make ’em better or worse dependin’ on how they’re doin’ in real life. It’s like keepin’ up with the Joneses, but with baseball players. My grandson he says it keeps the game real.
When do these darn updates happen?
Now, this is the important part, so pay attention. They do these updates every two weeks, like clockwork. And wouldn’t ya know it, they mostly do it on a Friday. Friday at 3 p.m., Eastern Time, to be exact. That’s fancy city talk for when them folks on the East Coast are havin’ their afternoon coffee, I reckon. So if you are itchin’ to play with the latest team, you know when to look. Don’t go botherin’ nobody on a Tuesday! It ain’t comin’ till Friday!
- Update Frequency: Every two weeks. That’s twice a month, for those of you who ain’t good with numbers.
- Update Day: Mostly on Fridays. Thank the lord it ain’t on a Sunday, I need my rest.
- Update Time: 3 p.m. ET. Like I said, city folk time.
How do you get these updates on your game thingy?
This part’s a bit tricky, but my grandson showed me. You gotta go to the main menu, you know, the place where you start the whole shebang. Then you gotta find somethin’ called “Settings,” which is where all the fancy buttons are hidin’. After that, you click on “File Management,” sounds important, right? And finally, you gotta “Load Data.” It’s like loadin’ up a wagon with hay, but with computer stuff instead.
Then, you gotta pick the newest update thingy from the list. It’ll have a date on it, so you know it’s the right one. And that’s it! You’re all set to play with the latest and greatest baseball fellas. My grandson says it is important to have the latest data so he can beat his friends. Kids these days, always competin’.
Why do they even do these updates?
Well, like I said, things change in baseball. Players get traded, they get hurt, they get better, they get worse. If the game didn’t keep up, it wouldn’t be real, would it? It’d be like watchin’ a movie from ten years ago and expectin’ everything to be the same. Life ain’t like that, and neither is baseball, I guess. My grandson says it keeps the game from getting stale, whatever that means. Sounds like somethin’ you find on old bread to me. They make sure to include any new players too, just like when the new calf is born on the farm you gotta make sure it gets counted.
So, what’s the big deal?
Honestly, I don’t rightly know. Seems like a whole lotta fuss over nothin’ to me. But my grandson, he loves it. He says it makes the game more fun, more realistic. And I guess that’s all that matters. If it keeps him outta trouble and makes him happy, then I ain’t complainin’. He gets real worked up if his favorite player gets traded to a new team and the game doesn’t show it. Kids these days get too riled up over silly things. They should go out and do some honest work on the farm like I had to do at their age. That would teach ‘em!
Final words
So there ya have it. Everything you ever wanted to know about “MLB The Show 24” roster updates, straight from the mouth of someone who don’t know nothin’ about it. Just remember, every two weeks, mostly on Friday, 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Go to the settings, load the data, and you’re good to go. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about baseball and computer stuff has made me hungry. And don’t go askin’ me nothin’ else about this game, ’cause I’m done talkin’ about it. This old lady has better things to do. This game is officially licensed too, fancy that. Just like my tomatoes at the market are officially the best in the county.
And one last thing, April 5th, 2024 they had another update. Just so you know
And that’s all she wrote!
