Okay, so the other day I was messing around in MLB The Show 23, and I kept seeing this “Program Stars” thing. I was like, “What the heck is that?” So, I decided to figure it out.

First, I jumped into Diamond Dynasty mode – that’s where all the card collecting and team building happens. I noticed that these Program Stars are tied to specific programs, like the “Team Affinity” program or the “Monthly Awards” program.
Figuring Out the Programs
- I started poking around the different menus. It’s kinda confusing at first, lots of stuff going on.
- I found each program has its own set of challenges and missions.
- Saw things like “get X number of hits with this player” or “pitch X innings with players from this team.” Basic stuff like that.
Earning the Stars
So, here’s the deal: you earn Program Stars by completing these missions and challenges. The more you complete, the more stars you get.
I started small, knocking out some of the easier missions, you know, just to get a feel for it. As I played, I started racking up those stars!
What are they For?
This is the important part. These stars are like a currency. You use them to unlock rewards within each program. I’m talking about things like:
- Player cards (the good stuff!)
- Packs of cards
- Stubs (the in-game money)
- Equipment and cosmetic items
Basically, the more stars you earn, the better rewards you can unlock. It’s all about grinding through those programs and getting those stars to build your ultimate team. The rewards can be really cool and make a big difference.

After several tries, I got a good understanding of the rules.
