Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Max Homa. Don’t know him from Adam, but I heard some folks jabberin’ ’bout him. Seems he’s a golfer, one o’ them fellas that swats little balls with a stick. Now, I ain’t never held a golf stick in my life, unless you count that ol’ shillelagh I keep by the door for them pesky raccoons. But this Max fella, he’s apparently good at it.
Now, how old is he? That’s what they call “age,” I reckon. Well, they didn’t say it straight out, but from what I gather, he ain’t no spring chicken, but he ain’t ready for the rocking chair neither. Folks say the best golfin’ years are when you’re ’bout 30 to 35. So, if he’s hittin’ the ball good, he’s probably somewhere in that ballpark, I figure. He’s been winnin’ stuff, they say. Six times on somethin’ called the PGA Tour. Sounds fancy.
This Max Homa fella, he’s pretty good at hittin’ that there golf ball. They even said he was the fifth best in the whole wide world in April of this year. Imagine that! Fifth best! I can barely hit a fly with a swatter, let alone a little ball with a stick a hundred yards away. But good for him, I say. He musta practiced a lot. Probably spent more time on the green than a grasshopper in July.
They talk about how tall he is and how much he weighs, like it matters. Six foot one, they say. And 180 pounds. Well, that’s a fair size, I guess. Big enough to swing that stick hard. And he’s got a wife, Lacey. They got hitched a while back. Good for them, findin’ someone to share their life with. That’s important, you know. More important than hittin’ a ball, that’s for sure.
They also mentioned he played with some fella named Tiger Woods. Now, that name I do know. Heard of him on the telly. They say Max was a bit nervous playin’ with him. Well, who wouldn’t be? Tiger Woods is a big deal, like Elvis Presley was for singin’, I guess. So, seein’ as he played with Tiger Woods and was a bit nervous shows he is still pretty active.
- They say he ain’t always perfect, though.
- Sometimes that stick of his, the “driver” they call it, doesn’t do what he wants.
- Seems like his hittin’ off the tee wasn’t so good this year.
Everybody has their bad days, I say. Even the best of ’em. Just gotta dust yourself off and try again. That’s what my ma used to say, anyways.
Now, this golfin’ business, it seems mighty competitive. Lots of young fellas out there tryin’ to make a name for themselves. They say it’s all about speed and bein’ young these days. But Max, he’s holdin’ his own, sounds like. Maybe bein’ old ain’t so bad after all, especially if you know what you’re doin’.
It’s kinda like makin’ biscuits. You can have all the fancy new gadgets, but nothin’ beats good ol’ fashioned know-how and experience. This Max fella, he’s probably got both. He’s learned the tricks of the trade, figured out how to handle that stick and that little ball. And he’s got the muscle and the mind to put it all together.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about Max Homa. He’s a golfer, a husband, and seems like a decent fella. And his age? Well, he’s old enough to know better, but young enough to still swing that stick with the best of ’em. And that’s good enough for me.
Seems like this golfin’ life is hard work, but if you’re good at it, you can make a good livin’. Better than farmin’, that’s for sure. No back-breakin’ work in the sun all day. Just strollin’ around on the green, swattin’ balls. Sounds alright to me. But even those golfers seem to have problems, so maybe it ain’t so easy after all.
Anyway, I wish this Max fella all the best. Hope he keeps on hittin’ them balls and winnin’ them prizes. And maybe one day, I’ll even turn on the telly and watch him play. But probably not. Got more important things to do, like feedin’ the chickens and makin’ sure them raccoons don’t get into the garbage again.
