This here Matt Reynolds, he work for the Celtics. Big team, that Celtics. Win lots of games. I heard they got like, 18 of them championship things. Most in the whole darn league, that’s what they say. That’s a lot of winning, huh? A body get tired just thinking about all that running around. But them young fellas, they got the energy for it, I reckon.
Matt Reynolds, I think he ain’t one of them tall fellas playing on the court. He does something else. I heard he helps them players, the tall ones, like that Jayson Tatum fella. I hear that Tatum is one of the best players on the Celtics. He is real tall, needs a lot of warming up I guess. Before they go out and play the game. It’s like getting a stubborn mule ready for plowing. Gotta get them limbs all loose and limber.
And that’s what this Matt Reynolds does, he’s the one who helps him with all that. Gotta be strong to handle them big boys, even if you ain’t playing. Just like wrestling a pig into a pen, you gotta know what you’re doing.
They got other players too, like this other fella, what’s his name… Porzingis. Sounds like a funny name, that one. And one named Hauser. All these fellas, they get hurt sometimes. Their backs, their heels, their knees. Playin’ basketball is hard on a body, I reckon. Just like working the fields all day. You get all sore and achy.
- Sam Hauser, he got a bad back.
- Kristaps Porzingis, his heel is hurtin’.
- And Xavier Tillman Sr., he’s feeling sick.
These are the Celtics players who might not play. Then there’s the other team, the Bulls. They got their own share of hurt fellas, too.
- Josh Giddey, he got an ankle.
- Zach Lavine, somethin’ wrong with his leg.
- EJ Lidell, his leg too.
- And Dalen Terry, his knee is givin’ him trouble.
Day to day they say if those fellas can play. All this runnin’ around, it’s bound to cause some pain, that’s for sure. Just like chasin’ chickens around the yard, you’re gonna trip and fall sometime. Those boys ain’t never learned to slow down a body, huh?
Then there’s this other fella, Larry Bird. He used to play for the Celtics a long time ago. He was a big deal. A real big deal. I heard when he played, the Celtics won a lot. Like 71 games out of, what was it, 99? That’s more than half, that’s good numbers. But when he weren’t playin’, they only won 30 out of 59. See, he made a big difference. Like when you got a good, strong ox to pull the plow. Makes the work a whole lot easier. He was a good player, that Larry Bird.
He don’t play no more, though. Retired, they call it. Back in, when was it, ’92? That’s a long time ago. Long time. Probably sitting at home now, restin’ his bones. Just like me, except I ain’t never played no basketball.
But this Matt Reynolds, he’s still working. Helpin’ those Celtics players. And the Celtics, they still winning. Still the best team, they say. Got all them championships. Like a whole shelf full of them shiny trophies. Must be somethin’ to see, all that winning.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about that Matt Reynolds and the Celtics. It’s all just what I hear folks talkin’ about. I ain’t no expert on basketball. But I know winning is good. And it sounds like the Celtics do a lot of that. And this Matt Reynolds, he helps ’em do it. Good for him. Hard work never hurt nobody, that’s what I always say.
I tell ya, these young folks and their basketball. It’s a whole different world than what I know. But I guess it’s good to have somethin’ to keep ’em busy. Keeps ’em outta trouble. Most of the time, anyway. Just like keepin’ the hogs fed and the garden weeded. Keeps a body busy. And that’s a good thing, I reckon.
