Okay, so I started digging into some players for my fantasy drafts this year, you know, just getting a feel for things early on. One name that kept popping up, someone I really wanted to look into, was Marquise Brown. Hollywood. Especially now that he’s landed with the Chiefs.

First Thoughts on Brown
I remember watching him back with the Ravens. Blazing speed, always felt like he could take the top off a defense. But it was always kinda up and down, wasn’t it? A big game here, a disappearing act there. Then he went to Arizona. Had that connection with Kyler Murray from college, which sounded great on paper. But things didn’t exactly light up the sky consistently there either, what with injuries to both him and Kyler at different times. Felt like he never quite hit that elite level we thought he might.
The Chiefs Situation – This Changes Things
Then the news dropped – he signed with Kansas City. Okay, hold on. Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball? That definitely got my attention. My first thought was, obviously, the deep ball potential. Mahomes has that arm, Brown has that speed. Seems like a match made in heaven, right? But then I started thinking more practically. Is he just going to be a field stretcher? Or can he actually earn steady targets week in, week out? The Chiefs needed receiver help, we all knew that. They got Rashee Rice last year who looked decent, but they lost Hardman, MVS wasn’t consistent… there looked like an opening.
Digging into the Details
So I spent some time actually looking into it. Pulled up some of his past stuff, not getting too crazy with the stats, just trying to get a feel. How often was he actually targeted when he was healthy? Did he make plays after the catch? I watched a few highlights from Arizona again, just to refresh my memory on how they used him.
Then I looked at the Chiefs’ offense. They spread the ball around, sure. Travis Kelce is still the main guy, no doubt. Rashee Rice worked underneath a lot. So, where does Hollywood fit? My thinking went something like this:
- The Good Stuff: He gets Mahomes, arguably the best QB in the game. He walks into an offense that desperately needs a reliable outside threat with speed. Less defensive attention maybe, with Kelce drawing coverage. Potential for huge splash plays.
- The Not-So-Good Stuff: New offense, gotta learn the system and build chemistry with Mahomes. How many targets will he realistically command with Kelce and Rice there? Can he stay healthy for a full season? He’s not the biggest guy. Will he just be that boom-or-bust deep threat again?
Where I’m Landing (For Now)
Thinking about where I might draft him… it’s tricky. The upside is massive. If he clicks with Mahomes and stays on the field, he could easily outperform his draft spot. He could be that missing piece for the Chiefs’ passing game and a fantasy league winner. But there’s risk. The floor feels a bit shaky based on his history and the target competition.

Right now, I’m cautiously optimistic. I won’t be reaching for him super early, but if he starts falling into a certain range in the draft – maybe where you’re picking your WR3 or WR4 – I’ll definitely be interested. He feels like one of those guys who could swing your season, for better or worse. I’m leaning towards taking the shot if the price is right, banking on the talent and the Mahomes effect.
Anyway, that’s just my process, how I’ve been thinking through Hollywood Brown for 2024 fantasy. Still early days, things can change, but that’s my current read after digging in a bit. Always curious to see how these things actually play out.
