So, I got curious the other day, wondering where Gordon Ryan actually lives now. You see him all over the place online, training, competing, but his home base seemed a bit fuzzy to me.
My first move was pretty basic. I just typed “where does gordon ryan live” into a search engine. See what popped up. Lots of hits, naturally. Some older stuff mentioned New Jersey, which made sense, that’s where the whole Danaher Death Squad thing was originally, right?
But then I saw a bunch of mentions about Puerto Rico. Remember that phase? Seemed like a lot of folks were heading there for a bit. So, I thought, okay, maybe Puerto Rico?
I decided to dig a bit more. I went over to his social media, mostly Instagram. You know how athletes sometimes tag locations or show stuff in the background? Started scrolling through his posts and stories. Didn’t find an exact address, obviously, wouldn’t expect that.
But I started noticing a pattern. More and more content seemed to be coming out of Austin, Texas. Talk about his gym, New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, being set up there. Saw pictures that looked like the Texas landscape. Heard him mention Austin in a couple of interviews I stumbled upon while searching.
Connecting the Dots
It started to make sense. New Jersey was the past. Puerto Rico might have been a temporary thing or just a frequent visit spot. Austin seemed like the current headquarters.
- Saw posts mentioning training partners based in Austin.
- Noticed references to local Austin spots or events sometimes.
- The New Wave Jiu-Jitsu gym location is a big clue.
So, I put the pieces together. Started in Jersey, maybe a stint or lots of time in Puerto Rico, but now? Austin, Texas. That seems to be the spot where he’s settled, built his gym, and does most of his training these days.
It wasn’t like finding a hidden treasure map or anything, just took a bit of looking around online, checking different sources, and connecting the dots from his own posts and interviews. Pretty sure Austin is the answer I was looking for.
