Okay, so I’ve been hooked on League of Legends for, like, forever. I mean, I started playing way back when Vlad was the new hotness, and I’ve probably dumped, no joke, 2,000 hours into it. But about a year ago, I finally uninstalled the darn thing. It was tough, but honestly, sometimes you just need a break from the solo queue grind, you know?
So, I started looking around for something else to scratch that competitive itch. I mean, there are a ton of MOBA games out there, but it’s hard to find one that really feels like League but also brings something new to the table.
First, I messed around with Teamfight Tactics (TFT). It’s right there in the League client, so it was super easy to jump into. No need to download anything new. It’s this auto-chess thing where you build a team of League champs and they just duke it out automatically. It was fun for a bit, but it didn’t quite hit the same spot. Still, it is a good one for a change of pace.
Then I started thinking, maybe I should just try something totally different. But somehow that did not help me get rid of LoL. I mean, Wild Rift is an option, but it’s essentially a mobile port of League, but it has some adaptations, making the game faster compared to the PC version. Its map has been reduced in size, the respawn time is shorter. But I’d say that it is still League of Legends, but not League of Legends.
I even dipped my toes into a few other MOBAs. They had their moments, but none of them really grabbed me. They were either too simple, too complex, or just didn’t have that special something that makes League so addictive. This made me realize that exploring something like LoL is really hard.
My Realization
After all that searching, I realized something. Maybe what I really needed wasn’t a replacement for League, but just something to play alongside it. Something to break up the monotony and give me a fresh perspective. There is no such thing as “League of Legends, but not League of Legends” I guess.
So, I’ve started playing a bunch of different games. Some are competitive, some are not. I’m just trying to broaden my horizons and have fun with it. And you know what? It’s actually been pretty great. I’m not as burnt out on League anymore, and I’m enjoying gaming more in general.
So, if you’re feeling a little stuck in a rut with League, or any game for that matter, don’t be afraid to branch out. Try something new, even if it’s totally different from what you’re used to. You might be surprised at what you discover.
And hey, if you find any hidden gems out there, let me know! I’m always up for a new gaming adventure.
