Alright, so I’ve been spending a fair bit of time diving into Wuthering Waves lately. Like, really digging into it. And one thing that keeps popping up, in chats, online, everywhere, is folks asking about weapons. What’s good? What’s the best?
Well, let me walk you through what I’ve been doing, trying to figure that out myself. When I first started, honestly, I just used whatever the game handed me. You get those basic tutorial weapons, right? Slapped ’em on whoever could use ’em and just pushed through the early story stuff. Didn’t think too much about it.
Getting Serious (Sort Of)
But then things started getting tougher. You hit those world level bumps, enemies start hitting harder, taking longer to kill. That’s when I realized, okay, maybe weapon choice actually matters. My first instinct? Check the gacha banners. We all know how that goes. Spent some pulls, got a few 4-star weapons. Some felt decent, others… not so much. It was a bit random.
I specifically remember pulling a 4-star Sword, think it was the Commando of Conviction? Looked cool, stats seemed okay. Put it on Rover. It worked, kinda. Better than the starter stuff, for sure. But was it game-changing? Nah.
Crafting and Farming Time
So, pulling felt like a gamble. I started looking at what I could actually make. Went over to the crafting station. Saw you could forge some 4-star weapons using materials you farm in the world. This felt more reliable. I needed a better Broadblade for my main damage dealer at the time, so I focused on farming the materials for one of those craftable ones. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a grind hunting down those specific monster drops and ores. But hey, felt good actually building something.
I made the Autumntrace Broadblade. And you know what? It was solid. Really solid. Felt like a noticeable jump in damage compared to the random gacha 4-star I had before. It wasn’t flashy, but it did the job reliably. I started doing this for other characters too – checking which craftable weapon fit their role and grinding it out.

- Checked character kits
- Looked at weapon stats and passives
- Farmed the required materials
- Crafted the weapon
- Leveled it up and tested
This process felt way more rewarding than just getting lucky on a pull. I also started paying attention to the weapons you get from exploring or certain quests. That free sword, the Sword of Night, the one everyone gets? Surprisingly good, especially early on.
What About Those Shiny 5-Stars?
Now, the big question: the 5-star weapons. Are they the “best”? Yeah, probably, on paper. Their stats are higher, their passives are usually stronger. I did eventually manage to snag a 5-star weapon from the standard banner – the Emerald of Genesis Gauntlets. Put them on Verina. The difference was definitely there. More healing, more utility from the passive. It felt good.
But here’s the thing: getting that specific 5-star weapon you want? It takes a lot of pulls, or getting really lucky, or maybe spending money if you go for the weapon banner. Was it absolutely necessary? Honestly, for the content I was clearing, probably not. My Verina was doing fine with a good 4-star healer Gauntlet before that.
My Two Cents
So, after all this running around, testing, crafting, and pulling, what do I think are the “best” weapons? It’s kinda boring, but it’s true: it depends.
The 5-star signature weapons are obviously powerful if you can get them for your main DPS characters like Jiyan or Calcharo. No doubt about it. But are they essential to enjoy the game or clear hard content? In my experience so far, not really.

A well-chosen, fully leveled 4-star weapon, especially some of the craftable ones or specific gacha ones like the variation series, often does the job perfectly well. The key is matching the weapon’s stats and passive ability to the character using it. A weapon with high attack is great for a DPS, but a healer might want something with Energy Regen instead.
Don’t sleep on the craftable weapons. They take effort to make, but it’s guaranteed progress. And some of those free or exploration reward weapons are genuinely useful for a long time.
So yeah, that’s been my journey with weapons in Wuthering Waves. Focus on synergy, upgrade what you have, and don’t feel pressured to chase every shiny 5-star unless you really want to (and can afford to). The “best” weapon is often the one that works best for your character and your resources right now. Keep playing, keep experimenting, that’s half the fun anyway.
