Alright, so I decided it was time to chase down a decent Perpetualis. Heard folks talking about it, this Strand auto rifle, and figured I’d give it a proper go. You know how it is, gotta have the shiny new toys.

Starting the Grind
First off, I had to figure out where this thing even dropped consistently. It was tied to that whole Season of Defiance mess. So, that meant running those Defiant Battlegrounds. A lot. Like, seriously, a lot. Ran them solo, ran them with randoms, just kept banging my head against those missions.
Then there was the whole engram focusing deal back at the H.E.L.M. You gather up all that seasonal currency, those engrams, and you basically just gamble at the table. I spent hours, man, just decoding engram after engram. Most of it? Junk. Instant dismantle fodder. Filled up my postmaster more times than I care to admit.
Figuring Out What I Wanted
While I was grinding away, I started thinking about what perks would actually feel good for me. I mean, everyone’s got their opinions online, right? But sometimes you just gotta go with your gut.
For the barrel and mag, I wasn’t too picky at first, but something to help with stability or reload speed is always nice. Can’t stand guns that kick like a mule or take forever to reload mid-fight.
The main perks, though, that’s where I got specific. I thought about how I play:

- Needed something to keep the recoil manageable. When you’re holding down the trigger, you don’t want the thing flying off target. Zen Moment sounded pretty good for that.
- For the other perk, I wanted damage. Plain and simple. Target Lock seemed like the obvious choice – the longer you shoot something, the harder it hits. Makes sense for melting bigger targets.
So that was the goal: find one with something like Zen Moment and Target Lock. Seemed like a solid combo for just general shooting stuff.
The RNG Rollercoaster
Let me tell you, getting that specific combo was a pain. I got rolls with one perk, but not the other. I got rolls with perks I didn’t even consider. I got so many Perpetualis rifles I could have built a small house out of them.
There were moments I almost gave up. You run another battleground, decode another five engrams, and get nothing even close. It gets frustrating. You start thinking, “Is this even worth it?” But then you get that one roll that’s almost perfect, and it pulls you back in.
Finally! The Drop
Then, finally, after who knows how many runs and engrams, it happened. I was clearing out my inventory, hovering over the dismantle button on yet another Perpetualis, and I paused. Checked the perks. Boom.
It had Arrowhead Brake (helps with recoil, nice!), Tactical Mag (more bullets, faster reload, perfect!), Zen Moment, AND Target Lock. It even had a Stability masterwork. It was pretty much exactly what I’d been looking for. That feeling when you finally get the drop after a long grind? Yeah, it’s pretty good.

Testing it Out
Didn’t waste any time. Infused it up, slapped a mod on it, and took it straight into some patrols and strikes. And yeah, it felt right. Smooth firing, easy to control the recoil thanks to Zen Moment kicking in, and you could really feel Target Lock ramping up the damage on tougher enemies. Just felt solid, reliable. Shredded through adds and did decent boss damage too.
So yeah, that’s my journey getting the Perpetualis god roll I wanted. Took a while, lots of grinding, but got there in the end. Happy with how it turned out. Now, onto the next grind, I guess.
