Well, let’s talk about this Kyle Schwarber fella and his walk-up songs. You know, the little tunes they play when he comes up to bat. I ain’t no expert, but I hear things, ya know?
What’s the big deal with walk-up songs anyway? I guess it gets the crowd pumped up. Makes ’em cheer louder, maybe? I don’t know. Seems like a lot of fuss to me. But hey, these young fellas, they like their fancy stuff.
Now, I hear tell this Schwarber fella, he’s got a few different songs he uses. One time, they say he used somethin’ called “Thuggish Ruggish Bone, Grove Street Party.” Sounds like a whole lotta noise to me. Another time, it was “No Diggity” by some group called Blackstreet. Now that one, I kinda recognize. Heard it on the radio once or twice. Not bad, not bad.
- Thuggish Ruggish Bone, Grove Street Party – Loud and rowdy, just like them young folks.
- No Diggity – Now that’s a song you can tap your foot to. Catchy, ya know?
- Look Ahead – He used this one when he first started out, I heard.
- Lay Low – Added this one later on, I guess. Maybe he got tired of the old ones.
- A Bar Song – This fella Bryce Harper uses this one, not Schwarber. But it’s a country song, so it must be good.
- Intoxicated – Another one, not Schwarber’s. But folks seem to like it. Loud and catchy, I guess.
Folks say when Schwarber comes up to bat and they play his song, the crowd goes wild. Especially that first time, in the first inning. They say the cheers were the loudest then. Well, I guess that’s the point, ain’t it? Get the crowd goin’, get the player pumped up.
Seems like these players, they change their songs sometimes. Like this Schwarber fella, he started out with one song, then switched it up. Added a new one, they say. Maybe he got bored, maybe he just wanted somethin’ different. Who knows? These young folks, they’re always changin’ their minds.
I read somewhere, some folks even make lists of these walk-up songs. Rank ’em, they say. Best to worst, I reckon. Imagine that! Spendin’ your time makin’ a list of songs baseball players use. Well, I guess it takes all kinds to make a world, don’t it?
And this Bryce Harper fella, they say he changed his song too. And wouldn’t ya know it, he started playin’ better right after. Hit a hot streak, they call it. Now, I don’t know if it was the song or just plain luck, but there ya go. Maybe there’s somethin’ to these songs after all.
I heard tell some of these songs are real popular. Like that “Intoxicated” one. They say even if you don’t think you know it, you’ll recognize it when you hear it. Well, I ain’t heard it myself, so I can’t say for sure. But folks seem to like it, so it must be somethin’ special.
So, there ya have it. A little bit about Kyle Schwarber and his walk-up songs. Kyle Schwarber walk up song, that’s what they call it. And a whole lotta other stuff I heard along the way. Don’t know if it makes any sense, but that’s the way I see it. Just a bunch of songs and a whole lotta fuss, if you ask me. But hey, what do I know? I’m just an old woman tryin’ to make sense of it all.
And let me tell you, sometimes these young fellas make it mighty hard to keep up. Always changin’ things, always with the new this and the new that. But I guess that’s just the way of the world. Things change, songs change, players change. And we just gotta try to keep up the best we can.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself some supper. All this talk about songs and baseball has made me hungry. And I ain’t got time for all this fancy stuff. Give me a good home-cooked meal any day.
