Okay, so I decided to sign up for the Coushatta golf tournament. I’d been meaning to get back into golf, and this seemed like a fun way to do it. Plus, it was at a course I’d heard good things about.
First things first, I registered for the tournament online. It was pretty straightforward – just filled out a form with my info and paid the entry fee. I think it was maybe $100, give or take? I have to search what exctly it was next time.
Getting Ready
Next up, I needed to, you know, actually prepare. I hadn’t played a full round in ages, so I hit the driving range a few times. The first time was… rough. My swing was all over the place. But after a couple of sessions, I started to feel a little more comfortable. I even managed to hit a few decent drives!
- Dusted off my clubs (they were seriously dusty).
- Bought a new glove – the old one was looking pretty sad.
- Stocked up on golf balls (because I knew I’d lose a bunch).
The Day Of
The day of the tournament finally arrived. I woke up early, had a big breakfast. When I arrived the golf, I immediately checked in at the registration table, got my scorecard, and found out my starting time and group.
I was a bit nervous teeing off on the first hole. My hands were actually shaking a little! But I took a deep breath and… well, let’s just say it wasn’t my best shot. It went way right, into the rough.
But you know what? I actually had a blast. I met some cool people in my group, and we had a good time chatting and joking around as we played. The course was beautiful, too – lots of trees and water features.

My game wasn’t exactly stellar. I had a few good holes, a few really bad ones, and a lot of “meh” ones in between. The weather started getting bad and it rained.
I definitely didn’t win any prizes. But honestly, that wasn’t the point. I went out there, had fun, and got some exercise. And I reminded myself why I enjoy playing golf, even when I’m not very good at it.
It was all good experience, and I might even do another one next year!
