Alright folks, lemme tell you ’bout this crossword puzzle I tackled recently, the “john jr. to john sr.” one. Sounds simple, right? Well, it was… kinda. But also kinda not. Here’s how it all went down.

First off, I saw the title and thought, “Okay, this is gonna be a breeze. Probably just a simple name switcheroo.” I grabbed my trusty pen and a cup of coffee, ready to knock it out of the park. That’s where I started to dig in.
The first clue I looked at was something about a famous “John” known for his music. Obvious, right? John Lennon. So, I filled in “LENNON.” Felt pretty good about myself. Then I looked for another “John” clue. Found one about a president. JFK! Easy peasy. “KENNEDY” went in next.
But here’s where things got a little trickier. The crossword wasn’t just about finding any “John.” It was about going from a “John Jr.” to a “John Sr.” And that required some actual thinking, not just trivia knowledge. I needed to figure out the link.
I started looking for other names that could fit. There was a short clue about a religious figure. John the Baptist came to mind. Filled in “BAPTIST.” Then a clue about a writer. John Milton? “MILTON” went in. The pattern was still fuzzy, but the grid was starting to fill up.
I realised the solution was hidden inside the clues and the grid. I start paying close attention to the letters that were shared between the intersecting words, really focusing on the letter count and shared letters of the already correctly填入的答案。

This is where it clicked! Some of the clues were playing on common phrases or things associated with both the junior and senior versions of the name. One clue, for example, related to law and government. I considered John Roberts (Chief Justice) but the length didn’t fit. Then I remembered John Adams (2nd President and his son John Quincy Adams!). The senior/junior relation in history filled the missing gap!
I filled in “ADAMS” and suddenly a bunch of other answers started to fall into place. That was the breakthrough I needed!
From then on, it was mostly about double-checking my answers and making sure everything lined up. I had to erase a few guesses that turned out to be wrong (oops!), but eventually, I filled in the last square.
The final step was celebration time. Stood up, stretched, had another sip of coffee, and admired my handiwork. Felt good to have conquered that crossword. Not the hardest one I’ve ever done, but definitely one that made me think a little.

So yeah, that’s the story of my “john jr. to john sr.” crossword adventure. Hope you enjoyed hearing about it! Maybe you’ll even give it a try yourself. Happy puzzling!
