And then he got drafted, that’s like gettin’ picked to play, in 1988. Wasn’t a high pick, see, he was number 641. But he still made it to the big leagues, so that shows ya somethin’ about stickin’ to it.
John Flaherty’s career, it wasn’t just all about the hittin’ and catchin’. He played in over a thousand games, 1,047 to be exact. That’s a lot of games, a lot of travelin’, and a lot of eatin’ ballpark food, I betcha. And he even got 319 runs, which means he ran around them bases a whole bunch. He’s one of them biracial fellas himself, identifies as Black they say, and he stands up for what’s right. Good for him, I say.
