Okay, so, I’ve been seeing a lot of talk online about this new game, Stellar Blade. People keep tossing around the term “Souls-like” when they talk about it, and I got curious. I mean, I’ve played my fair share of Dark Souls and other games like that, so I wanted to see if Stellar Blade really lives up to that comparison. So I got the game and started playing.
First off, let me tell you, this game is definitely not a walk in the park. It’s set on this messed-up, post-apocalyptic Earth, and you play as this cool character named Eve. The whole vibe is very cyberpunk, which I’m totally into. You’re running around, fighting all sorts of nasty creatures, and the combat is pretty intense. They are calling Eve an authentic slice of Korean cyberpunk, and it feels right.
Now, about that “Souls-like” thing. I can totally see where people are coming from. Stellar Blade’s combat is tough. It’s not just about button-mashing; you really gotta think about your moves. It reminded me a lot of Sekiro, another game I’ve sunk a ton of hours into.
- You gotta learn the enemy’s attack patterns, just like in those games.
- Dodging and parrying are super important. If you’re not paying attention, you’re gonna get wrecked.
I spent a good chunk of time just practicing my parries, trying to get the timing down. It’s frustrating at first, but so satisfying when you finally nail it and counter an enemy’s attack.
Is it exactly like a Souls game?
Not quite, but it’s close. There is a story mode that makes the game easier than a Souls game. In the end, I would say it’s more of an action RPG. The combat system is similar to a Souls game, but overall it is an easier game. I died a lot, don’t get me wrong, but it felt a bit more forgiving than, say, Dark Souls or even Sekiro. It’s like the developers took some inspiration from those games but wanted to make Stellar Blade a bit more accessible.
So, yeah, if you’re into challenging action games and you like the whole cyberpunk aesthetic, I’d say give Stellar Blade a shot. Just be prepared to die a few times, and don’t be afraid to practice those parries! I had fun playing and figuring it out and the main character, Eve, is pretty cool.
